In the games they have played together, Trent Boult and Tim Southee have now taken 341 wickets - that has taken them past Richard Hadlee and Lance Cairns as New Zealand's leading fast-bowling pair.
Latham 14, Williamson 4
The ground is still sparsely populated. Eden Park's official capacity is 42,000 for cricket matches but it does not look even a quarter full at the moment.
Chris Woakes is quickly into his groove with the ball as he sends down a maiden of his own. The Warwickshire all-rounder was England's joint-third highest scorer with the bat earlier. He made five.
A double bowling change for England in fact, as Chris Woakes now comes into the attack.

Latham had a little bit work to do for the first boundary but the second one was much easier. He got his weight transferred and his knee bent.

A change in the attack by Joe Root as England's 'hero' with the bat, Craig Overton, is thrown the ball. The Somerset man sends down a nagging first over to start with a maiden. Tom Latham flashes a little bit at his first delivery which interests the England slip cordon before regaining his composure.

Broad is trying hard today, there is no doubt. Three or four deliveries in that over made Williamson work hard. He is just getting movement but that last delivery has irritated him.
England's fielders not backward in coming forward to get under the nose of Kane Williamson. The number four ranked Test batsman in the world is a prize scalp here. His judgement has been pretty good so far and does not appear in the slightest bit flustered.
The final ball of Stuart Broad's over is a touch full and the Kiwi skipper leans forward and crisply punches the ball through the covers for four. Williamson off the mark. Broad chunters to himself.
Latham 14, Williamson 0
A glorious shot from Tom Latham. The left-handed opener latches on to a fuller ball from James Anderson and cushions it to the boundary for four. He follows it up a glorious cover drive off Anderson's next delivery which pierces the England field and races away to the rope. That's immediately taken all the pressure off.
A brief discussion between Stuart Broad and Joe Root at the end of the 10th over. The gist of which appears to be Broad wanting to continue, with Root perhaps wanting him to keep his powder dry. James Anderson continues.
Stuart Broad, with a short-back-and-sides haircut, is bounding in like he means business. His second delivery is slightly quicker and hits Tom Latham amidships. The left-hander gets himself off strike.
Broad's penultimate delivery is a peach which searches for the edge of Kane Williamson's bat. It duly gets a nod of appreciation from the Black Caps skipper.

England need to get Williamson because he and Taylor are the two players who could take this game away from them. This is a very important period of play.

Stuart Broad and James Anderson had a little chin wag before that wicket. Clearly a plan was hatched to get rid of Jeet Raval. Bowling in partnerships is always key. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is the new man at the crease.

That one has come back off the seam. Anderson hasn't been able to get the ball to swing but he got that to come back off the pitch.
That will make the England side feel a bit better. They have had a bit of a mare. They need to make some inroads.
Raval c Bairstow b Anderson 3 (Eng 8-1)
England have the breakthrough their start with the ball has deserved as James Anderson finds the edge of Jeet Raval's bat. Wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow takes a regulation catch behind the stumps. Raval had to play at that one after being cramped for room.

England are just the fifth team to be bowled out before the end of the first session.

Craig Bickerton: How often has a team been bowled out before lunch on the first day of a Test?
Some interesting thoughts there, Chris. Meanwhile at Eden Park, Stuart Broad is building up a bit of sweat. However, his enthusiasm sees him given a little bit of ticking off from umpire Paul Reiffel after straying into the pitch. Jeet Raval scampers a single off the penultimate delivery.

The rot with English cricket goes right to the top and Strauss needs to go. He messed up the Pietersen issue and is clearly out his depth. We have fundamental issues within the entire setup of English cricket.
