This is England's lowest Test total versus New Zealand and their sixth lowest of all time.

Craig Overton just missed out breaking the highest percentage of runs by a number nine in the overall total.

Joe Root said he wanted to bat at the toss remember. It is bright sunshine in Auckland. This is not a Trent Bridge v Australia in 2015 kind of pitch.

    A shambles.

You cannot just blame the preparation for that display. It's the weak way out. It's just been awful from ball one. If you look at the dismissals the guys who have played non-stop cricket got out as well. Too many were out playing airy fairy drives. When you get a on roll when everything is going badly.

I think this is definitely going to be a day when England send Paul Farbrace out to face the media at the end of the day.

The dark humour in me was kind of disappointed it wasn't England's lowest of all time. However, credit to Craig Overton for his knock.

You have to say that was brilliant Boult and Southee, two of the world's best bowlers, and New Zealand also caught everything but England will quite rightly get a whole load of abuse for that.

It swung around, yes, but England looked so rusty. They didn't look like they had any idea how to play the swinging ball.

"We've had a shocker," says the official England Twitter account.

    I think that's being generous.

I am just putting my fingers in my ears and going "la la la la la". You just have to laugh in this instance I guess. It's a perfect storm, and it felt unstoppable. It just felt like there was going to be a wicket every ball.

ENGLAND ALL OUT FOR 58published at 20.4 overs

Anderson c Nicholls b Soult 1 (Eng 58 all out)

All over. A feeble way for it to end.

Jimmy Anderson just prods the ball in the air to Henry Nicholls at gully.

Trent Boult finishes with six wickets. England are bowled out for their sixth lowest total in Test history.

    Pathetic.

Can someone tell the England team I've booked time off work specially to watch this! Thanks.

That's well played too from the lanky Overton. Southee is a little distracted by his breezy knock and is banging the ball in short.

Overton weaves out of the way and drops his hands well.

Joking aside, Craig Overton is actually batting cleverly here. He's seen batsmen come and go caught behind when batting from the crease but he's playing aggressively and looking to attack.

Now he pulls a fifth four down to fine leg. Can Overton get to 50?

That run for James Anderson means England have managed to avoid six ducks which would have been their most in a Test innings.

England are getting sledged on Twitter by Tino Best.

They are five ducks on the England scorecard while Overton has smashed his way to 27.

Whack! What a way to do it!

Craig Overton sees England avoid the embarrassment of being bowled out for their lowest ever total by pulling Trent Boult over square leg for six.

27 from 19 for Overton. Get him up to open.
