It's one of the busiest weekends of the year on the roads, so if you've got any sense, you might be listening to us now while driving, even though it's 4.30am at home.

  2. NZ 148-5published at 54 overs

    De Grandhomme 63, Watling 55

Ooft, Colin de Grandhomme has come perilously close to holing out!

Mark Wood spears it in short and De Grandhomme takes on the hook shot. He's hurried, not in control, but Joe Root, running backwards towards mid on, can't get there in time to take the catch.

A six to bring up BJ Watling's half-century!

Watling gets down on one knee and slog-sweeps Jack Leach into the grass banks to reach 50. He raises his bat to an appreciative crowd.

Arjun Singh: I keep hoping that Wood will just spear one in at Watling’s leg stump from round the wicket. Reckon he’s a bowled candidate to a good yorker.

  6. NZ 135-5published at 51 overs

BJ Watling has a new tactic against Mark Wood. He moves over to his off stump, which means he's out of the way of Wood's leg side bouncers. It's a bit Steve Smith-esque.

Watling hooks, not convincingly, but enough to help the ball down to the deep for a couple. That'll be the 100 partnership between these two.

It's taken a lot of overs for Jack Leach to encourage a false stroke, which went to the left of the two short covers - but it was "man height".

  8. dropped catch

    Close!published at 51 overs

    NZ 135-5

Jack Leach tosses it up and Colin de Grandhomme can't help himself. He has a big swing, misses and Jonny Bairstow goes up emphatically for a catch behind.

There was a noise, but I think it was more a case of bat hitting the ground. Umpire Erasmus shakes his head, before De Grandhomme slashes the ball into the air and away for four. That wasn't too far away from a leaping fielder at cover...

  9. 'A tournament of two halves' for England's womenpublished at 04:20 British Summer Time 31 March 2018

    Australia v England (05:30 BST)

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport in Mumbai

It's been a bit of a tournament of two halves for England - they knocked off 150 in their first game against Australia and then chased 199 against India, but then it's fallen apart somewhat. Despite having already qualified for today's tri-series final, they then lost their next two games. We're wondering which England team will turn up.

  10. NZ 131-5published at 50 overs

    Wood 12-2-33-0

BJ Watling swivels and swats at a short ball from Mark Wood, and he just about avoids getting a nick through to the keeper.

A follow-up bouncer is a little wayward, and Watling sways out of the way.

I quite liked it when just before tea, one of those short covers went to second slip or gully - it encouraged De Grandhomme to play a drive, and had an extra catcher if he didn't get it quite right.

    Oh, poor Mark Stoneman!

He's in at short leg and he's managed to be whacked in one of the few places that he doesn't have padding on. Colin de Grandhomme has swept the ball smack into his elbow.

Stoneman wanders away to compose himself before sharing a grin with the batsman.

Since the beginning of 2014, the average sixth-wicket partnership for New Zealand has been 60, which is the highest for any wicket by any team.

  14. NZ 129-5published at 48 overs

    Watling 37, De Grandhomme 55

Mark Wood carries on from the other end, with a bouncer from around the wicket that BJ Watling tucks himself underneath.

Shot! That's a glorious swat from Watling, up on tip toes and cracking Wood through the covers for four. Wood responds with a delivery that rises and thwacks Watling on the glove.

A 7-2 off-side field for Leach rather puts all your eggs in one basket - stacking one side of the field, you know where the bowler will be attacking. I don't know if having that man on the deep extra cover boundary will be playing on De Grandhomme's mind. At the moment, they've resisted slashing through the leg side.

  16. NZ 125-5published at 47 overs

A clip off the toes brings Colin de Grandhomme a couple.

This is the most deliveries that de Grandhomme has faced in a Test innings. His century - 105 against West Indies - came from just 74 balls. He's faced 90 for his unbeaten 55 here.

NZ will feel a little bit more comfortable after that session. It's been a bit of a rescue mission, but there's still a long way to go today.
