  2. Kent bowled out after Kuhn's blippublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Durham 91 v Kent 169 (56.4 overs)

    Adam Whitty
BBC Radio Kent at the Riverside

Heino, my man, what are you thinking?

You are 54 not out, dragging Kent slowly to a solid lead over Durham. You have batted with patience and composure. But you decided to go big and try a wallop spinner Will Smith over mid-off.

    You were caught.

Two wickets fell quickly after that, Adam Rouse and the swinging Matt Henry, to leave Kent in a spot of bother.

James Weighell then cleaned up the tail in an over to bowl Kent out for 169 - a lead of 78 runs.

  3. wicket

WICKET Patel (lbw b Brooks) 4published at 17:57 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Yorkshire 256 v Nottinghamshire 39-4 (10.4 overs)

    Jack BrooksImage source, Getty Images

Yorkshire in the wickets again at Headingley in the evening sunshine.

Samit Patel is trapped leg before by a delighted Jack Brooks to leave his side in trouble on 39-4.

  4. Surrey probing awaypublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Surrey 211 v Hampshire 18-0 (9 overs)

Jade Dernbach and Sam Curran in particular have bowled threateningly for Surrey, but despite a few lbw shouts there's been nothing doing yet.

Jimmy Adams and Lewis McManus are away safely.

  5. wicket

WICKET Bailey (st Foster b Harmer) 10published at 17:53 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Essex 150 v Lancashire 109-7 (31.2 overs)

Simon Harmer grabs a third scalp in this Lancashire reply as Tom Bailey tries to dance down the pitch to him.

Nice bit of turn for the spinner beats the batsman and James Foster whips off the bails as he's out of his ground.

  6. Taylor goes on attackpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Yorkshire 256 v Nottinghamshire 31-3 (9 overs)

Ross Taylor's decided that the best form of defence is attack for Nottinghamshire after their tricky start at Headingley.

He takes 16 from one Ben Coad over with four successive fours off the right-armer.

  7. Swift end to home side's inningspublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Gloucestershire 236 (85.4 overs) v Glamorgan

    Bob Hunt
    BBC Radio Gloucestershire at Bristol

It all ended in a rather desultory fashion for Gloucestershire.

Having recovered from 86-5, Kieran Naema-Barnett and Dan Worrell rather wasted the 15 overs leading up to the second new ball, deciding that occupation of the crease was preferable to adding to the score.

When the second new ball was taken, the innings was wrapped up quickly by Marchant de Lange who finished with 5-62; his championship best.

  8. wicket

WICKET Cox (c Trescothick b Groenewald) 21published at 17:45 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Somerset 202 v Worcestershire 93-6 (23.3 overs)

Ben Cox had put on a good-looking partnership with Travis Head, but he falls to the bucket hands of Marcus Trescothick at second slip. I'm reliably informed that's the veteran's 420th career catch.

  9. 100 runs

100 up for Lancashirepublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Essex 150 v Lancashire 100-6 (29 overs)

Lancashire edge to 100 at Chelmsford as Jordan Clark and Tom Bailey stave a bit of a rearguard for the visitors.

Still 15 overs left to bowl on this opening day so by no means the end of the action.

  10. Gloucestershire dismissed for 236published at 17:41 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Gloucestershire 236 (85.4 overs) v Glamorgan

They didn't have to wait long for the end of that Gloucestershire innings.

Matthew Taylor and Liam Norwell fall in quick succession and the hosts are all out for 236 at Bristol.

Marchant de Lange takes 5-62 for Glamorgan with the ball.

  11. Slow evening sessionpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Gloucestershire 234-8 (85 overs) v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

It's been a slow evening session in the Bristol sunshine as Gloucestershire ground their way towards respectability after being 86-5 just after lunch.

Kieran Noema-Barnett made a solid 46 before Lukas Carey trapped him lbw with the new ball, for his third wicket.

But Australian newcomer Dan Worrall has started to open out with only the tail for company.

Marchant de Lange has also claimed three wickets as Glamorgan's most dangerous bowler.

  12. Big appeal from Curranpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Surrey 211 v Hampshire 5-0 (3.1 overs)

Sam Curran thinks he has his man, but the umpire is unmoved. The left-armer swings one past Jimmy Adams through to Ben Foakes, but the sound may have been pad, rather than edge.

  13. Sunshine and wickets at County Groundpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Essex 150 v Lancashire 88-6 (25.1 overs)

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport at Chelmsford

    PorterImage source, Rex Features

It might be sunny and hot, but it's raining wickets at Chelmsford.

After Essex were bowled out of 150, last season's top wicket taker Jamie Porter is at it again. He's taken four of the six Lancashire wickets to fall with three catches for Jamie Porter.

It's pretty simple stuff from Porter, bowling at the top of off stump and the batsmen getting the nicks. While it is simple, you've got to be consistently good to keep doing it ball after ball after ball.

  14. Double breakthrough for Coad and Brookspublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Yorkshire 256 v Nottinghamshire 6-3 (3.1 overs)

And a flurry of two quick wickets for Yorkshire keeps this amazing flurry for the day going.

First Chris Nash is caught behind by a diving Andy Hodd off Jack Brooks for a duck and then Jake Libby is trapped leg before to one that keeps low from Ben Coad for just 6.

Turning out to be Yorkshire's day without a doubt.

  15. Iffy shots from Surrey batsmenpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Surrey 211 v Hampshire 4-0 (1.3 overs)

Surrey will have been happy to have only lost four wickets by the tea interval. But incredibly in less than 50 minutes after the break, they lost six wickets for just 24 runs.

On a wicket helping the seamers, left-arm spinner Liam Dawson picked up four of the last five wickets finishing with figures of 4-30. As good a bowling spell as it was, there were a couple of iffy shots from the Surrey batsmen.

Fidel Edwards was the pick of the Hampshire seamers. Kyle Abbott, who had the impressive Ollie Pope (34) lbw to the first ball after tea to start the rot, was not at his best today

  16. wicket

WICKET Chanderpaul (c Foster b Porter) 8published at 17:24 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Essex 150 v Lancashire 88-6 (24.1 overs)

There goes that combination once again for Essex - c Foster b Porter.

Jamie Porter comes back on for Essex and bags his fourth wicket of the Lancashire innings.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul edges off the back foot through to a delighted James Foster and departs for 8.

  17. Hampshire begin their inningspublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Surrey 211 v Hampshire 0-0

Jimmy Adams and Lewis McManus are out in the middle. Jade Dernbach to open the bowling for Surrey.

  18. wicket

WICKET Vilas (c Ten Doeschate b Harmer) 25published at 17:19 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Essex 150 v Lancashire 86-5 (23.4 overs)

    HarmerImage source, Rex Features

    And another!

Essex pick up another timely wicket just as Lancashire threaten to get on top.

Simon Harmer dismisses Dane Vilas in identical fashion to how he snared Liam Livingstone to the man under the short leg helmet, Ryan ten Doeschate.

  19. There's number 106!published at 17:18 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

    Durham 91 v Kent 142-8 (18 overs)

Right on cue - there's another one down.

In fact, they've been falling left, right and centre today at Chester-le-Street and we may see the third innings of game begin even before the end of the first day's play.

  20. Flurry of wicketspublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 20 April 2018

So, a colleague of mine has just nudged me to ask how many wickets we've seen fall today....

Current count across our nine fixtures is 105. But, that'll probably have gone up again in a few seconds!
