Double change - Jack Leach is coming on to replace James Anderson, who has figures of 5-3-7-0.

  2. NZ 27-0published at 10 overs

    Latham 21, Raval 6

That's a better recovery from Wood, getting the final ball of the over to jag back into Latham and give him a tap on the gloves.

Mark Wood has served up a couple of half-volleys to his future Durham team-mate. Beautifully put away by Tom Latham, mind.

  4. NZ 27-0published at 9.3 overs

Shot! Oh, Tom Latham has timed a straight drive to perfection. Jeet Raval barely bothered running - he knew where that was going.

And again! A drive through the off side is clunked to the boundary by Latham as Wood overpitches.

And here is that change - Mark Wood is coming on in place of Stuart Broad.

    Broad's work so far: 4-1-11-0.

Nagging in the back of England's minds will be that no one beside Anderson and Broad has taken a wicket in this match. And that pair will have to have a rest soon.

  7. NZ 18-0published at 9 overs

Mark Wood is loosening up, while James Anderson wheels his way through another tidy maiden.

It's about ten minutes until the tea break.

    Raval 5, Latham 13

A bouncer whistle over Tom Latham's head from Stuart Broad, while Jack Leach turns his arm over down at fine leg.

Broad switches to around the wicket, and Latham plonks a single, before Jeet Raval picks up his first boundary with a nice bit of timing to push the ball square.

In the end that's an absolutely fantastic ball by James Anderson that just somehow didn't hit the stumps. It pitched on leg and whistled past off, via a tiny flick on Jeet Raval's back leg. That's far too good.

    Raval 1, Latham 12

Jeet Raval is being made to work so hard out there.

He's turned around by an absolute beauty from James Anderson that, somehow, manages to miss everything. There's an appeal, but it's ball on thigh, rather than bat. Anderson responds with yet another fine delivery that slides past the outside edge. Lovely stuff.

England lost their way a bit during their innings. They had a few collywobbles over how they were going about trying to set a total.

    Broad 3-1-6-0

Jeet Raval takes a minute to compose himself. He's going to have an almighty bruise in the morning.

He gets off the mark from Stuart Broad's final ball.

    NZ 12-0published at 5.5 overs

Dearie me, that's going to hurt!

That's an awkward delivery from Stuart Broad, nipping back in, and Jeet Raval, arms high above his head, takes a nasty blow to the ribs. He's a skinny fella, too, and he hops off straight away.

He was trying to leave that, but it really moved back into him after it pitched. On comes the physio.

Stuart Broad is starting to create problems by hitting the middle of the pitch hard.

  17. NZ 11-0published at 5.3 overs

Tom Latham clips Stuart Broad low off his pads for a couple.

There's then a big old shout for lbw as Latham falls over, but there's not a flicker of interest from the umpire. I think it's pitched outside leg, and it's struck Latham above the knee roll.

  19. NZ 9-0published at 5 overs

James Anderson gets Jeet Raval pushing forward and sending a thick edge to third slip, but he plays with soft hands and the ball bounces in front of James Vince.

Anderson responds by beating his outside edge with a peach of a delivery.

That is the first ball I've seen really seam - it moved after hitting the pitch. But it was a good leave by Latham because it was just a bit too short by Broad.
