As the players continue to enjoy their lunch - and my only query would be why you would put apricot in a sticky toffee pudding, surely it should just be served with salted caramel ice cream? - let's have a look at some more items for your cricketing delectation.

Luckily for England, the venerable Cook, playing his 153rd consecutive Test, which equals Allan Border's record, remained defiant on 46. He was joined by Jonny Bairstow on 10, to take England to 72-3 at the interval. Here's one of the former captain's nine boundaries during the morning session.

Dawid Malan struck a century and three fifties in the Ashes but he was another to fall cheaply this morning, caught behind for six to leave England in trouble at 43-3 in the 16th over.

There was an anxious moment for Alastair Cook on 23 when he survived a review for lbw. There looked to be a good amount of ball on stump but it was given as umpire's call - although under the new law, Pakistan did not lose their review and both teams still have their two remaining.

England skipper Joe Root did not last long either, also dismissed for four - from 24 balls. Root, who has scores of 0, 35, 14 and 23 for Yorkshire in the Championship this season, chased an extremely wide one from the impressive Hasan Ali in the 14th over to make it 33-2.

It was another failure for Surrey left-hander Mark Stoneman, dismissed by Mohammad Abbas for four in the fourth over. Stoneman has made five fifties in his 19 Test innings, but only two in his last nine.

Thanks Amy, I very much like that picture of Waqar, I think that will keep me amused throughout the series. Lots happening then, so we'll have some promotional messages and we'll start with a look back at the highlights of the morning session.

I think Pakistan will be very happy, they were probably expecting one more wicket. They have bowled really well especially Hasan Ali so they will take that.

And that folks, is your lot for the morning session.

A disappointing morning for England, who have come up against a very disciplined Pakistan side. Hasan Ali has been excellent, finishing the morning with 2-18. There's plenty for Jonny Bairstow and Alastair Cook to do post-lunch.

With that, I'm off - Jamie Lillywhite will take you through to tea.

That's an... interesting attempt at a shot from Jonny Bairstow, who gets his feet in a knot as he tries to flick the ball away through the leg side and ends up watching it zip past his outside edge.

Bairstow opts for a quick single from Amir's next delivery, before Alastair Cook gets beaten by an excellent ball from the left-armer.

Paul Wilkinson: So chatting with Jonny Bairstow in the Long Room this morning I asked him what's the main difference batting at five rather than six. He replied, batting at five means we'll be not many for three when I go out to bat, rather than not many for four.

Some flight on show from Shadab Khan, and Alastair Cook and Jonny Bairstow knock the ball around to pick up as many singles as possible.

John Wells: Root’s been found wanting again, captaincy has come to early for him, not captain material at all, they will be lucky to make 200.

Jonny Bairstow, who has played relatively carefully so far, is tempted into a big heave-ho at a wide Amir delivery.

He doesn't connect and then, wisely, ignores the final few balls of teh over.

What I like about Alastair Cook in this innings is that he is driving the ball well. He is always a back foot player waiting for the ball to come to him, but this time around he is looking for the drive, which is a good sign.
