    England have got what they need. It's a good day for batting, the pitch is paler, there are no footholes for Shadab to bowl into and they should get runs - if they can get past the scoreboard pressure.

    But I don't think England look well drilled. They play a lot of football but Pakistan looked drilled and disciplined.

    I don't think England were completely terrible yesterday, if you get my drift.

    Ben Stokes in particular was a highlight, growing in speed and confidence as the day went on.

    But Pakistan have resisted. They've played with a patience that has been beyond England so far.
