Is that right? Have we just witnessed an England innings without some form of a batting collapse? With only two scores of below 10, both of which were from batters 10 and 11? When was the last time we saw that happen?

Last night we were told that there were around 2,500 tickets available for today. This morning, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of expectant spectators hurrying through the streets of Headingley. In general, I'm not a fan of four-day Tests but, if every match was Thursday to Sunday, it seems reasonable to think that would help crowds.
Jos Buttler then did what Jos Buttler does.
Thwack. If anyone finds this ball, feel free to return it to The Umpires, c/o Emerald Headingley, Leeds.
Buttler finished the innings unbeaten on 80, as England were bowled out for 363 - a lead of 189.

There's definitely a correlation between being a good batsman for England and having a double letter in your surname. Cook and Root: two of England's best. Jennings, Buttler, Bess, Curran: promising for the future. Ed Smith should take this into account when selecting the squads (Sure Boycott would agree!)

A maiden Test century was in sight for Buttler but he was running out of partners, as Stuart Broad went hooking and ended up being excellently caught in the deep by Mohammad Abbas.
Jos Buttler, however, picked up where he left off at Lord's. The top-scorer for England there, Buttler brought up his fifty with a six...
England began the day of 302-7, leading by 128 runs, and on the lookout for quick runs...
Then Sam Curran delighted stats lovers everywhere as he was dismissed for 20, on his 20th birthday, by this low catch from Asad Shafiq.

The game is all but over. I'm sorry for Pakistan - they played splendidly at Lord's - but this is a different place and, if Broad and Anderson bowl anything like they can, they'll knock them over.
Cheers Jack.
England are on the verge of winning a Test match! Huzzah! Let's have a look at how this morning unfolded.

Keep an ear on Test Match Special over lunch - Aggers will be chatting to former England and Leeds United goalkeeper Nigel Martyn.
You can listen using the player at the top of this page.
So England will enjoy their lunch break after a fine morning, adding 61 runs to finish 363 all out before taking three quick wickets.
I'm off for my lunch break too, so here is Amy Lofthouse to recap the morning and take you through the second session. Cheers.

It has undoubtedly been England's morning.

Sam Curran pushes it up in search of swing and Imam ul-Haq works it round the corner for four.
Imam isn't content to just defend until lunch but Curran tightens up and doesn't concede another run.
And that's that for a thoroughly entertaining morning session. Time for lunch!

I'm not helping my 18-year-old's A Level revision. I keep dragging her away to watch bits of cricket magic. First Jos Buttler's mega six, then Dom Bess' superman catch.

New man Usman Salahuddin works his first ball off the pads to get off the mark with a couple.
Just one over left before lunch and birthday boy Sam Curran will bowl it.

That was Stuart Broad's 415th Test wicket, which takes him past Wasim Akram's total of 414.
He's now joint 12th with Sri Lanka's left-arm spinner Rangana Herath.
Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur looks utterly dejected.
That's a really unfortunate way to get out.

Everything is working for England.
Shafiq c Bairstow b Broad 5 (Pak 42-3)
What a bonus for England.
It's a pretty nothing ball from Stuart Broad, pushed down the leg side and Asad Shafiq tries to flick it fine.
But the ball does indeed feather the glove before clipping the pad on the way through to Jonny Bairstow and third umpire Paul Reiffel gets the on-field umpires to reverse the call.
England weren't convinced but heard two noises and were rewarded for the review. Pakistan in the mire.
