The groundsman has been out to inspect the bowling crease, and used that giant stamper thing to flatten it out. Technical, I know.

Usman Salahuddin digs out a Stuart Broad yorker, before he tickles a delivery down to fine leg for a couple of runs.

While there's still problems with this England side - one win doesn't change that - I'd like to think a bit of a confidence boost will do them some good.

That said, they don't play another Test until August. So they're just getting the hang of it again, before they have to stop for another month and a bit.

Francis Edwards: England a tad complacent for me, one win against a weak side doesn’t make you winners, in fact drawing a series at home against a side that are poor on their travels is pretty shocking. Broad acting like he bowled well in the Ashes!

Michael Holding, the expert in these matters, thinks that James Anderson is having a bit of pain in one of his ankles.

He's got a little hop going as he releases the ball but, fingers crossed, he seems to be okay.

James Anderson has not been at his best after lunch. He looks like he might be sore - the good thing is he does have a decent amount of time to get fit after this match before the India series in August.

That'll be four for Usman Salahuddin, a dinky turn of the wrist pushing the ball past the slip cordon and down to the third man boundary.

Hmm. James Anderson is grimacing. He's taken a tumble in his follow through and it's a heavy old walk back to his mark...

Bad news, Pakistan fans - the rain might just avoid Headingley today...

Usman Salahuddin stays crab-like in defence, before opening the face of the bat and pushing leisurely single away from the latest Stuart Broad over.

It would take a fantastic effort for Pakistan to win or even draw from here. It has the feel of England returning to form and winning ways, though.

Imam-ul-Haq wears glasses when he plays, which instantly makes him my new favourite cricketer.

A little flick through the leg side brings him two, before the left-hander lets the final few balls go safely through to Jonny Bairstow.

And from the other end, it'll be James Anderson.

More swing for Stuart Broad, accompanied by an orchestra of ooh's from behind the stumps.

That'll be four, though! A thick edge from Usman Salahuddin, but he controls it nicely, and it races to the third man boundary.

    Hello!

Stuart Broad finds some away swing straight after lunch, and the ball whizzes past the outside edge of Salahuddin's bat.

You have to make the bowler bowl straight and to do that, you have to have good judgement about what to leave outside off stump.

    Right. Here we go.

England, searching to end their winless Test run, are back out under the floodlights at Headingley.

It'll be Stuart Broad to get things going again.

When one team is so much on top, the batting side then folds. I expected Broad and Anderson to get a couple of wickets before lunch, but they've got them by some extraordinary means. I don't think Jimmy bowled extraordinarily well, and yet he's got two wickets.

James Martini: Really like the look of Dom Bess, seems to have the right character. He bats properly, unlike Moeen, and showed real athleticism with the catch to get rid of Haris. I hope Graeme Swann can chip in to help develop his off spin.

In fact, Pakistan have mostly been architects of their own downfall - and Dom Bess had a starring role with this superb catch to dismiss Haris Sohail.

Then Stuart Broad, who starred in the first innings for England, got in on the act to have Asad Shafiq caught behind and leave Pakistan teetering on 48-3 at lunch.

Quirky stat: The highest partnership (62) in the English innings of 363 turned out to be between the nightwatchman (Dom Bess) and Dawid Malan, the batsman Bess had originally been sent in to protect.
