Oh yes, that's out. That just looked right. England are working their way through this Pakistan batting line-up.

    Sarfraz lbw b Woakes 8 (Pak 97-5)

    Oh, that's plumb!

Sarfraz Ahmed doesn't even bother having a cursory chat with his mate at the other end. Chris Woakes has sent his latest delivery right into Sarfraz's knee roll, and I reckon that's cracking into his off stump.

    England are edging closer...

  4. Pak 97-4published at 27.1 overs

Usman Salahuddin leans back and cuts Chris Woakes, leaving Stuart Broad to do a bit of tidying up down at third man and keep it to three.

Pakistan are being positive and that's the way they have to go about this.

Good from Dom Bess, conceding a single from his first delivery, before spearing the ball fuller and wrong-footing Sarfraz.

Very much enjoyed this photo. Joe Root and Chris Woakes look like proud parents.

What a game Dom Bess is having.

    49 as the nightwatchman...

A superb catch to dismiss Haris Sohail...

And now a maiden Test wicket.

Safraz Ahmed nails a straight drive off Chris Woakes, and looks a bit disappointed as the ball clatters into the stumps at the opposite end. He wanted four for that.

Graeme Swann dismissed more left-handers lbw than any other bowler in Test history, with 43.

Although India's Ravichandran Ashwin is just behind him now with 42.

Ah. That'll be four for Sarfraz Ahmed, and he's hurt Stuart Broad's hand in the process.

Another thunderous drive goes whizzing down the field and Broad, diving at mid-on, gets a nasty whack on the fingers as he falls.

Dom Bess took that wicket at an ideal time - Imam-ul-Haq was looking settled.

    Here he is again...

  12. Pak 86-4published at 24 overs

Usman Salahuddin nurdles a single, before new man Sarfraz Ahmed gets off strike with an awkward little drive.

Chris Woakes then finds a bit of extra bounce and Salahuddin, playing across his front pad, get his hands and bat in a tangle.

Bit of a commotion at Headingley because a Toyota Yaris is blocking someone's drive. The tannoy announcer pointedly says "we're still looking for the owner and the police are involved". One spectator could be about to lose their car....

  14. Pak 84-4published at 23.2 overs

We've had a change of ball - and this one is swinging for Chris Woakes.

Chief shiner Alastair Cook gets to work on it, before Woakes squares Usman Salahuddin up with a delivery that bounces awkwardly.

Graeme Swann used to get plenty of left-handers out like that. Since ball tracking and DRS came in, we know that's out. Ray Illingworth was right all those years ago when those kept being given not out.

A genuinely lovely moment for Dom Bess, who was swamped by his England teammates as soon as the umpire raised his finger.

Keaton Jennings at short leg was yelling almost as loud as Bess.

Well done Dom Bess. It took a while to get there, but he's now got his first Test wicket.

A very animated Imam walks off, he's absolutely furious. But that's a classic modern dismissal by an off-spinner to a left-hander.

    Imam lbw b Bess 34 (Pak 84-4)

There it is! A first Test wicket for Dom Bess!

That looked out, and Imam is more than a touch irked with himself. He was playing forward, the ball slid past the outside edge and hit him below the knee roll. The technology suggests it was umpire's call on where it was hitting, the ball clattering into the top of middle stump.
