  1. Eng 23-1published at 3 overs

    Target 215

Bairstow isn't half in form right now, eh?

He makes it back-to-back boundaries by cracking a full delivery through the covers.

England have recovered well from that early loss of Jason Roy.

I don't care how quick you are - you cannot afford width to Jonny Bairstow.

Hales had all the time in the world for that shot. He must have seen it very early. It wasn't that short, but he got enough meat on it.

  4. Eng 19-1published at 2.4 overs

Bang! Billy Stanlake fires it down short and Alex Hales whacks it on the up through mid-wicket for four.

He's looked assured against the pace and bounce of Stanlake, even in defence.

Hales tries to follow up with another four but is denied Ashton Agar's excellent dive in the covers.

That's four though! Jonny Bairstow crunches a delicious square drive to the fence.

Jonny Bairstow does everything that is asked of him really well and with huge talent - be it fielding, wicketkeeping or batting. He's making this openers' role his own.

  6. Eng 10-1published at 2 overs

    Target 215

Michael Neser responds to that boundary by drawing Jonny Bairstow into a false shot - the result is the same though as the edge flies past the cordon and down to third man for four.

  7. Eng 6-1published at 1.3 overs

Jonny Bairstow gets himself and England off the mark, working debutant Michael Neser's first ball through backward square for a couple.

Oh hello! Neser strays short and wide and Bairstow marmalises it through the covers for four. Confident shot.

  10. Eng 0-1published at 1 over

Alex Hales is the new man in, no stranger to opening for England in ODIs, as he effectively must do now.

Billy Stanlake keeps his pace up around 90mph throughout the over and Hales can't get off the mark.

A tremendous opening over - a wicket maiden.

    Roy b Stanlake 0 (Eng 0-1)

    Well now.

Billy Stanlake follows up a solid first delivery with an absolute snorter that knocks over Jason Roy's off stump.

The tall fast bowler gets it to nip back in off a testing length and it zips through Roy's defences. The England opener was late on that one.

A vital early wicket for Australia when defending a low total.

  12. Eng 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Big Billy Stanlake will open the bowling for Australia. He's 2.04m tall... and quick. Can he make early inroads?

His first ball is slightly back of a length, on the right line and Jason Roy just punches it away into the covers for no run.

    Cheers, Amy.

How will England go about this? Try to blast off the runs as quickly as possible to make a real statement? Or play themselves in and keep the scoreboard ticking over?

Given how England have played the last few years, I think it's safe to say they'll be aggressive.

Can Jonny Bairstow get that record-equalling fourth consecutive ODI century? Would be some effort with 215 to chase.

Right, Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy will shortly be on their way out to get England's chase of 215 under way.

It'll be Jack Skelton to take you through the first 25 overs of England's reply. In a bit...

A reminder that New Zealand's Amelia Kerr set a world record earlier today.

The 17-year-old posted the highest score by a player in women's one-day cricket with an unbeaten 232 against Ireland.

She broke Belinda Clark's 21-year record - Clark previously made 229 not out against Denmark in 1997.

The Australian tail did what they could but this was a cracking performance from England's bowlers, who would have been a touch bruised after that loss to Scotland.

Liam Plunkett and Moeen Ali finished with three wickets apiece, while Adil Rashid ended with figures of 2-36.

  19. How's stat?!published at 16:33 British Summer Time 13 June 2018

Since the World Cup in 2015, Adil Rashid has taken a wicket every 16 deliveries at the death - no England bowler is more prolific in the last 10 overs of the innings.

However, top-scorer Glenn Maxwell could only do so much, and became the first of Liam Plunkett's three wickets.

That ended an 84-run partnership between Maxwell and Ashton Agar, and Agar was on his way shortly afterwards.
