    Agar c Buttler b Rashid 19 (Aus 256-4)

Ashton Agar drills Adil Rashid down the ground for four and the leg-spinner is unimpressed.

His response? Bamboozle the promoted number five with a googly and have Agar feathering it through to Jos Buttler.

    You'd fancy England chasing 320.

  3. Aus 252-3published at 44 overs

    Marsh 69, Agar 15

Mark Wood tries to make amends with the ball - Shaun Marsh shapes to hit him over mid-wicket but ends up top edging it back over the bowler's head for a couple.

Ashton Agar then also top edges a hook shot but it flies over the keeper and away for four.

Stand and deliver stuff from Agar. He can't get Wood away but Australia still pick up 10 from the over.

  4. Aus 242-3published at 43 overs

    Run rate 5.63

Ashton Agar just about gets a bit of bat on the final delivery to sweep it fine.

And gets four for it as Mark Wood's slide takes him into the rope while still touching the ball.

He gets a glare from Adil Rashid for his troubles. That did rather spoil a good over.

  5. Not outpublished at 42.4 overs

Tidy work from Buttler but Marsh's foot went nowhere. On we go.

  6. Umpire reviewpublished at 42.4 overs

Oooh. Shaun Marsh unfurls a big sweep but it's the googly from the returning Adil Rashid and he misses it.

Jos Buttler grabs it behind and whips off the bails.

I suspect Marsh's foot was planted in the crease but they're checking upstairs...

    Wood 7-1-34-2

Mark Wood, his tail up and tailing the ball in at pace, is proving too good for the Aussies here.

Just three singles from the over.

Alex Hales at Trent Bridge last time out. Mark Wood at Chester-le-Street today. Look out for Jos Buttler going postal at Old Trafford in the next match then.

Anything over 300 is a very tricky chase. This is a good pitch. It's not as quick as Trent Bridge and the outfield is slower.

Mark Wood is back on, trying to wreak more damage in the Aussie line-up. Here is his key dismissal of centurion Aaron Finch just now...

  11. Aus 232-3published at 41 overs

    Run rate 5.66

The bad news for the Aussies is that Shaun Marsh is clearly carrying a knock as he hobbles through for a single for what should've been a two.

Ashton Agar then taps round the corner and sprints the first but unsurprisingly Marsh turns down the second.

The result is Moeen Ali can rip through a quick over and concede just four runs from it.

Well, Australia do at least still have Shaun Marsh at the other end...

  13. Aus 228-3published at 40 overs

Right, so Australia have promoted Ashton Agar to number five above Alex Carey and Tim Paine.

Of course Agar can strike a mean ball but it's hardly a good sign that he's their answer at number five.

He gets off the mark with a slice down to third man for one.

Tremendous stuff from Mark Wood - three runs and two wickets from the over.

Stoinis has been done by the reverse swing and pace. Sometimes when you watch somebody get a lovely hundred, it looks easy out there. When you get to the crease, you realise it's not.

    Stoinis b Wood 1 (Aus 227-3)

    No, Marcus Stoinis can not.

Mark Wood produces another skiddy delivery that tails in but it's also a bad error by the new man.

Stoinis hangs back instead of getting out to a full-ish delivery, the ball doesn't bounce as high as he anticipates and his stumps get rearranged.

Delight for Wood, a brilliant over so far.

So Australia could really have done with the big-hitting Finch to be there until the end.

Instead, he's gone - replays showing that was plumb. Mark Wood celebrates with a bit of a jig.

Can Marcus Stoinis start hitting from the off?

Well played, Aaron Finch. It tailed in - Finch does look to get across his stumps and play it into the leg side - and Wood bowled a similar ball in the previous over which was helped on its way to four.

    Finch lbw 100 (Aus 225-2)

    A century and gone!

Mark Wood gets a skiddy delivery through and onto the pads as Aaron Finch tries to clip it into the leg side and misses.

    Huge appeal and given!

Finch briefly deliberates but opts against the review. That looked very out.

Finch is brilliant - especially against England. It's been an old-fashioned type of innings, mind.

It's strange when you get a team you know you do well against. It takes the pressure off. I used to see Ashwell Prince walking out and I wouldn't be worried. I knew I already had his wicket in my locker. The opposite of that was Jacques Kallis.

Australia are now firmly on the charge as Shaun Marsh swipes away over mid-wicket for four.

An expensive over from Moeen Ali - 14 from it.
