Richard Higgins: Australia been given the schoolboy; just see out the overs, lads.

All that sorted, Adil Rashid continues and rips through a tidy over, just two from it.

  3. Aus 152-1published at 29.2 overs

A brief appeal for lbw against Shaun Marsh is turned down, after which the replay is wrongly shown on the big screen.

The umpires then go over to Eoin Morgan to remind him that he can't use that replay to decide whether to review.

Replays show that would've hit the stumps but Marsh was so far down the impact would've gone with the umpire's call.

The best compliment I can give the England ODI side is that they don't miss Ben Stokes. He'll get back in, but they don't miss him. The three they couldn't replace are Buttler, Moeen and Rashid. I wonder if they need to try another spinner, just in case there's an injury during the World Cup.

He couldn't hit Joe Root but Aaron Finch has hit a couple of mighty sixes off Adil Rashid. Here's one of them...

  7. Aus 151-1published at 29 overs

    Finch 59, Marsh 25

Moeen Ali is into the attack, with Shaun Marsh driving out towards the fence but sub fielder Sam Billings puts in a superb dive to save two.

Tidy enough start from Moeen, six from the over.

Can he and Adil Rashid add a couple of quick wickets to really put the strangle on?

Jon: In honour of Adam Gilchrist on TMS I feel compelled to share this with you. Discovered in Bellingen, NSW while over for the cricket in December. Are you aware of any other statues/busts of cricketers around the world that bear little resemblance to their subject?

Well now they've seen off Joe Root...

Aaron Finch lines up Adil Rashid's final delivery and smashes it away over wide long-on for six.

Tossed up by the leggie but Finch timed that perfectly.

Only once before has an English spinner got through all 10 of his overs in the first 27 overs of an innings in this country since records began in 2001. That was Moeen Ali in the first game of this series.

    Root 10-0-44-0

Joe 'the spinning Malinga' Root rattles through his final over of slingy, round-arm spin, Australia seemingly forgetting to score runs off him.

Just three from the over and that means Root finishes with excellent figures of 10-0-44-0. A huge bonus for England and not very canny batting by the Aussies.

Really enjoying watching Root bowl these overs considering the apparent necessity to have a 6th bowler. Maybe now we can consider Stokes actually earning his place back in the side rather than just giving it to him seeing as he hasn't done anything in England colours for a long while now.

Cheers Steph. Adil Rashid continues and Aaron Finch just leans on one into off for a single.

Shaun Marsh then misses out on a slightly ropey delivery slid down the leg, picking out the fielder round the corner.

Marsh does finally get off strike with a clip through mid-wicket before Finch has to defend the last.

Good stuff from Rashid, conceding just two off the over. Australia stagnating against spin.

A half-century for Aaron Finch, 65 balls positively pedestrian by his standards. Three fours and a six. Joe Root completes his ninth, doing wonders for England's over-rate. Halfway through inside 90 minutes. At this rate, the match will be done in time for Happy Hour. Here's Jack Skelton...

Hello there! Some whompage from Aaron Finch, belting a floaty one from Rashid over long-on for the first maximum of the day. It's probably fair to say Rashid hasn't been at his best just yet. Even his wicket came from a complete pie...

It's another multi-sport day (or night) for Australia. Their football team has drawn with Denmark to keep their World Cup hopes ticking. You can watch highlights from that match right here. Joe Root has been bowling since about midway through the second half in that match. His eight overs have only cost 38.

Stick with us during the interval. TMS will be holding a Q&A with Adam Gilchrist. Get your questions to the great man by emailing tms@bbc.co.uk or using the hashtag #askgilly. I'd be asking him if that great Aussie team - Warne, McGrath, Ponting - got on with each other. Poor delivery from Adil Rashid, way down the leg side, allowing Shaun Marsh to sweep for four.

Some of the reactions to that Head dismissal were excellent. The batsman let out a cry of anguish, coach Justin Langer buried his head in his hands, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Joe Root gets another over, possibly because of the fall of the wicket. Only two singles from it. Root might bowl 10 on the trot here.

We should draft Craig Overton into the rugby side for the final Test against South Africa. Wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of his run-up.

    Rashid 2-0-8-1

Shaun Marsh is the new man, bringing the sunshine with him. He lives dangerously, not picking the Rashid googly and skewing a drive that just passes the dive of the point fielder. Replays of the Head dismissal show that he couldn't have picked out deep square leg any better if he'd thrown it to him.
