England are playing nicely after that little blip when Kuldeep came into the attack. The odd ball has kept low and it is very dry but I have been very impressed with these two. I'm not too sure about Roy's shot, or Bairstow's, just take a while to have a look.

It's a painful few minutes for Eoin Morgan - a substitute fielder is on with some tablets for the England captain after he took a knock on the elbow.

Looks like it was be a painful series with our inept batsmen failing to spin. And don't forget there's Sri Lanka in the winter.

A quick drink, a brief time out to collect himself, and Eoin Morgan is fine to continue. Hard as nails.

Chahal will carry on, and a full toss gets wristily whipped for one by Joe Root. England carry on rotating the strike, dabbing singles here and there, and they work four runs from the over.

Morgan is rather like a boxer that has taken a big punch, he is not going to show that he has been hurt. A man is coming out with a white towel, not that he is going to throw it in.

  6. Eng 126-2published at 21 overs

It looks a much simpler game for England when the pace bowlers are on. Joe Root and Eoin Morgan drop a couple of easy singles here and there, before Morgan misses a short ball that didn't quite rise up properly and gets a thwack on the end of his elbow for his troubles.

Chahal continues, sole slip in place, and a clip from Eoin Morgan adds a tidy two to the total. An optimistic lbw appeal against Morgan is all but ignored by the umpire, the ball hitting the England captain high on the back leg, ends the over.

Lord's has an atmosphere of its own, the crowd do not seem as close to you as at The Oval, but it's the slope that has always been something that amazes me.

  10. Eng 118-2published at 19 overs

    Morgan 18, Root 21

Kuldeep appears to be massaging the muscles in his forearm - I imagine they get worked over a lot when you bowl wrist-spin. Hardik is the man currently bowling and Joe Root looks a lot more comfortable against the all-rounder's lively, if not express, seamers. Twice he drops short, and twice Root pulls a single to rotate the strike.

I don't think Kuldeep has bowled particularly well, considering the previous standards we have seen from him.

Nice and tidy from Chahal, conceding just two runs from the over.

Double spin for India. Yuzvendra Chahal is back on.

I'd be very surprised if Kuldeep doesn't get picked for the Test matches with the hold he has over the England batsmen. I doubt very much if England will be able to fully master him. It depends on the weather we get and the pitches, but he'll certainly be a handful.

  15. Eng 113-2published at 17 overs

    Kuldeep 4-0-23-2

Uppish from Eoin Morgan, turning his wrists into a big drive, but the ball bounces safely in front of the fielder at cover.

That's a profitable over from England against the wrist spinner, with 12 coming from it.

The one positive for England is that Kuldeep is not getting as much spin and purchase as he did at Trent Bridge, so gifting him two wickets is very frustrating.

  17. Eng 110-2published at 16.3 overs

That'll be four for Joe Root, as Kuldeep Yadav serves up a juicy full toss and gets carted through the covers.

Eoin Morgan then does what Jason Roy was trying to do, sweeping Kuldeep over square leg and beyond Hardik Pandya, who sticks out a despairing hand and ends up knocking the ball onto the ropes.

At Lord's, the media centre houses all of the written press and broadcast areas in close proximity. That means I'm very close to some outrageous cricketing talent. So far I've seen Stuart Broad, Alec Stewart, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Phil Tufnell, Mark Butcher and Kumar Sangakkara. Question is, could a Media XI beat one of these teams?

  19. Eng 101-2published at 16 overs

    Morgan 9, Root 13

Four! A welcome four for Joe Root, who turns a full Umesh Yadav delivery off his toes and through mid-wicket. Eoin Morgan then gets a bit of luck as an inside edge nips over the stumps and down to the fine leg boundary.

That's a better shot for the England skipper, up on his toes and shoveling a leg side delivery to the rope. 13 from the over!

These two guys have got to build a partnership, so it's about rotating the strike and running positively. They can't take any risks, it would be different if the openers were still in and well set.
