    Time for drinks.

It does feel a little bit like we're watching the highlights reel from Thursday again.

England have gifted Kuldeep two wickets. After his 6-25 they'll have wanted to play him better. I'm sure they had a game plan but this is not ideal.

    Roy c Umesh b Kuldeep 40 (Eng 86-2)

    Oh.

What Jason Roy has done is sweep Kuldeep Yadav right into the hands of the fielder on the boundary. The sweep is a decent idea from Roy but he's hoicked it right to Umesh Yadav, who was loitering at mid-wicket for that very shot. Umesh takes a couple of steps to the side and takes a simple catch.

England will be looking at a total of around 325, anything under 300 with the India batting line-up, if they get off to a good start, is not going to test them.

  6. Eng 86-1published at 14 overs

    Run rate 6.21

Virat Kohli throws himself at the ball from his position at cover to slow down a full-blooded drive from Jason Roy. India's fielding has improved so much since there last trip over here. Roy and Root have to settle for milking the singles here and there.

  8. Eng 81-1published at 13 overs

    Roy 39, Root 3

Four! Oh, that's a good shot from Jason Roy, scurrying to one side and thrashing a cut away through the off side.

That's the first boundary Kuldeep Yadav has conceded in this 50-over series. Bearing in mind he bowled 10 overs on Thursday, that's some effort.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

If you're dropping the ball short, Test match cricket might not be for you, but Kuldeep looks to have all the tools and the England boys are not picking him. Isn't it handy to have weapons like that?

  10. Eng 74-1published at 12 overs

England are going to have to go after the pace bowlers. Jason Roy tries to but ends up swishing at nothing, the ball zipping through to MS Dhoni, before a tumbling stop at mid-on stops Joe Root nabbing a boundary.

  11. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 14 July 2018

Honestly, when you see Kuldeep Yadav's variations in slow motion, you get an idea of how difficult it is to pick him.

    Here's Umesh Yadav.

This is good thinking from England, if you are not getting boundaries off Kuldeep get singles and make him bowl to a different batsman.

  13. Eng 71-1published at 11 overs

Joe Root is in and off the mark to his first delivery, before a terrific dive by KL Rahul at mid-wicket stops Jason Roy working another quick single.

That was the wrong un. Kuldeep is making it hot for the England batsmen again. Bairstow was batting well but once again he is outfoxed by Kuldeep. There is a bit of bad luck, very seldom does it go on to the stumps off pad and then gloves.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.2 overs

    Bairstow b Kuldeep 38 (Eng 69-1)

    Oops.

It's taken all of two deliveries for Kuldeep Yadav to have an impact. It's the right idea from Jonny Bairstow, getting down to sweep Kuldeep, but he's not timed it well. It's not a great ball from the wrist spinner but it drifts into Bairstow's pads, then hits his gloves, and finally it rolls onto the stumps.

That's three times Bairstow has been done by Kuldeep's wrong 'un.

  16. Eng 69-0published at 10.1 overs

Spin straightaway for Kuldeep Yadav, the ball drifting back into the batsman and Jonny Bairstow, deep in his crease, has to readjust at the last second.

Siddarth has been around first-class cricket for quite a while but has had a longer wait to for an India cap. If he continues to do well he could be close to a Test cap.

  19. Eng 69-0published at 10 overs

I'm not saying Virat Kohli takes a long time to set a field, but I've been able to eat half a chocolate bar while he fiddles around with the placements.

Tinkering done, and Jason Roy promptly clips a full toss through fine leg and away for four. Kohli's not impressed.

  20. Eng 64-0published at 9.2 overs

Siddarth Kaul is going to carry on for a little longer, and his first delivery sneaks under Jonny Bairstow's bat as he goes for a big slog sweep.

Bairstow will get that one away, though. Four! It's not the prettiest of shots, Bairstow heaving the ball over the leg side, but there's enough on it to help the ball roll down the Lord's slope and into the rope.
