    Four overs remaining tonight

Having teed off at the start of his innings, Rashid is now playing for the close. He blocks Shami back down the pitch.

Can he find a single off the final ball to keep the strike? No.

It's going to Anderson ducking for cover again in a sec.

  2. Eng 297-9published at 97.3 overs

No fun being a tailender in the modern game. It was a good bouncer and he didn't like it. Applause from Kohli to his bowler.

India need one wicket to win

This does not look fun for Jimmy Anderson. India aren't going easy on the 36-year-old. Kohli applauds another short ball which Jimmy fends down to fine leg for four.

More cheers as Anderson gets off the mark. He and Rashid have five more overs to bat to take it to day five. The physio is coming out to see to Anderson's hand.

A seventh catch for Rahul, one short of the world record for a fielder.

This is not what England want to see. It's another bouncer from Bumrah and it hits Anderson's glove and then goes into his chin.

That's hurt Anderson. He takes off his glove straight away. It's not his bowling hand, thankfully.

India need one wicket to win

Anderson nibbles at a Bumrah bouncer first up. There's no bat.

You can't begrudge Bumrah his five-for. He bowled at good pace, round about off stump, Broad gets the nick and fortunately for India goes to Rahul, who is catching flies.

    Broad c Rahul b Bumrah 20 (Eng 291-9)

The fun is over. Bumrah has his fifth. There's no doubt about the no ball this time and Broad is on his way.

Last man Jimmy Anderson is on his way out. He needs to bat for 5.4 overs to take this into a fifth day.

Bumrah is back looking for his fifth wicket of the innings.

    Rashid 22, Broad 20

It's spinner to spinner and Rashid blocks out this over from Ashwin. Broad and Rashid come together for a chat. I'd love to know what tactics they're discussing.

Mike Bell: I feel for Stuart Broad. Long before helmets used, albeit at a much lower level, I was hit in the face by a shortish ball, some proper damage done. I never enjoyed batting again. He has to go out and face Test standard bowlers. Good on him for keep going out there.

The fifty stand from 58 balls, the second fifty partnership that Adil Rashid has been involved in for the ninth wicket in the fourth innings.

  15. Eng 291-8published at 95.2 overs

Loud cheers as Broad gets off strike. That is the fifty partnership!

Broad and Rashid come down the pitch to punch gloves.

I think they quite like the idea of Ashwin against Broad.

    Seven overs remaining tonight

If you're aged 10 and are trying to learn how to bat, please don't take any notice of this.

Virat Kohli is saying something not too pleasant to Stuart Broad from the slips. Broad doesn't consider backing away from the fight. He has a go back. They're smiling but I don't think it's too friendly.

Broads keeps the strike with a three!

Tom in London: I always think an England performance can normally be summed up pretty nicely by comparing the extras total to that of our top four batsmen. Oh dear oh dear.

Umpire Marais Erasmus looks like he's trying to stop himself laughing. Rashid doesn't have a clue what's coming out of Ashwin's hand. Another swinger from the spinner goes like a leg-break and beats Rashid all ends up.

We're now into that final half hour. There'll be eight more overs tonight.

Do you think our brave batsmen are going to block Ashwin or play a few shots?
