Well we didn't expect anything from Bairstow anyway, did we? He's got a broken finger.

Over to Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes.

Bumrah goes for the yorker but England's all-rounder clips it to mid-wicket.

    Bairstow b Bumrah (Eng 231-6)

No. No Bairstow can't. He's gone first ball. It's a beauty from Bumrah that knocks back the off stump. I'm not sure whether the finger has affected Bairstow or not but it hasn't been tested. The Yorkshireman goes back to the dressing room without feeling bat on ball.

Out comes Jonny Bairstow with a broken finger. Can he be England's hero? There's less than an hour to the close.

Incredible innings from Buttler, he curbed his natural instincts and then played some incredible shots. The second new ball doing its job for India.

Buttler lbw Bumrah 106 (Eng 231-5)

Such fine margins. It was only clipping the bails but umpire's call is enough for India. The new ball has worked.

A brilliant innings comes to an end.

He hasn't played a shot so the impact doesn't matter. The only thing that can save Buttler is height.

Oh no. Buttler could be out here.

He's been given lbw. He reviews.

Chris in Bournemouth: I never thought I would want a budget meeting to keep going. Still wicket less since we started. It's a good job finance professionals can talk the legs off chairs.

    England need 291 to win

I'm not sure a risky two is really required from Stokes. He has to dive to make his ground and then needs some new gloves after getting a face full of dirt. This ball is definitely bouncing more than the old one and moving off the seam too. A bit of movement takes the ball towards leg for four leg-byes.

Tim Ness: Why can't England bat like they're saving a Test all the time? Still scoring at three an over. Proper Test match batting.

That's a good over from Bumrah. Buttler leaves one that bounces just over the top of middle stump. I think he's left that on length which is what I was calling for Jennings to do earlier.

Surprisingly Hardik Pandya is going to continue with the new ball.

You dream of playing for your country first and foremost and wearing the cap, but to score century is a schoolboy dream come true. You think of your family and it is an emotional moment, your first Test hundred.

"Caaaaaaatch." Buttler leaves the first two deliveries but then wants to feel this new cherry on his bat. He almost chips a back-foot drive to extra cover.

The new ball has delivered for India in this Test match. Ashwin wasn't quite able to get the pivot in his bowling so Kohli decided to call on the new ball immediately.
