There's second win of the summer for Division Two leaders Warwickshire as Jonathan Trott, ringed by close fielders, steers a ball from Hamidullah Qadri away through the covers for four. Trott finishes on 35 not out and Ian Bell has 34 after an unbroken partnership of 60 in 12 overs.

The Bears earn 23 points and Derbyshire, who have now won one, drawn one and lost one, have to make do with five. Their only success of the morning came when Matt Critchley had Dom Sibley leg-before.

The clock was turned back at Chelmsford yesterday as a group of Essex legends attended the County Ground to take a look at the Championship trophy, won by the current side last summer.

How many of them can you identify? We can spot Goochy, Derek Pringle, Keith Fletcher, JK Lever and David Acfield, but after that we're struggling.....

  6. new ball

New ball takenpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 268-3 (82.1 overs)

Guess what? As soon as I typed that Tom Abell changed his mind.

It's Lewis Gregory taking it. Somerset need some breakthroughs while the ball is shiny as the wicket is very good for batting.

  7. Somerset don't take the new ballpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 268-3 (82 overs)

Somerset skipper Tom Abell has decided against taking the new ball - for now.

Shiv Chanderpaul got into a bit of trouble playing Jack Leach, so they're sticking with it for a while.

  8. WICKET Lawrence (b Patterson) 32published at 11:47 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Yorkshire 50 & 329 v Essex 142 & 114-8 (42 overs)

    Steve PattersonImage source, Rex Features

Is that it for Essex as Dan Lawrence plays all around a straight one from Steve Patterson and loses his middle stump? It's the seventh time Patterson has taken five or more wickets in an innings, fitting reward for his unerring habit of bowling at the stumps.

  9. Bears cruise towards targetpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Derbyshire 318 & 209 v Warwickshire 439 & 63-2 (19 overs)

The target is now only 26 runs away for Warwickshire as Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott look to wrap things up against Derbyshire. The visitors now using spin at both ends with Hamidullah Qadri having joined Matt Critchley in the attack.

    Middlesex 230 & 102-2 (31 overs) v Sussex 323

Century for Dane Vilaspublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 253-3 (78.5 overs)

Dane Vilas cuts a short one away from Paul van Meekeren to move to an excellent century from 183 balls.

Keaton Jennings may be gone, but with Shiv Chanderpaul for company Somerset still face a difficult task on a good batting wicket.

  12. wicket

WICKET Harmer (lbw Coad) 0published at 11:39 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Yorkshire 50 & 329 v Essex 142 & 114-7 (41 overs)

The Essex target is looking more and more distant at Chelmsford as Ben Coad takes his third wicket in an inspired spell for Yorkshire, with Simon Harmer absolutely plumb.

What a triumph this would be if they win this match after being bowled out for 50 on the first morning. Dan Lawrence is 32 not out and he is the man the champions are now looking to as they try to score the 124 they still need for victory.

  13. Name game at the Ovalpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Surrey 434 v Worcestershire 149-2 53 overs)

Clarke bowling to Clarke at the Oval - Rikki to Joe, that is. The Worcestershire batsman has already found the fine leg boundary off his namesake, while partner Tom Fell has moved on to 31 not out.

  14. wicket

WICKET Libby (c Adams b Edwards) 54published at 11:36 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Nottinghamshire 302 & 155-1 (44.2 overs) v Hampshire 223

Fidel Edwards has been very expensive in this game, but the West Indian has the ability to take wickets.

He's grateful to Jimmy Adams, who takes a sensational catch at second slip to remove Jake Libby and end a huge opening stand for Notts.

  15. wicket

WICKET Jennings (lbw b Leach) 109published at 11:35 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 249-3 (78 overs)

Big breakthrough for Jack Leach! Somerset don't need the new ball.

Keaton Jennings is trapped in front to end a 201-run partnership over 60.5 overs with Dane Vilas. A great knock from Jennings.

  16. 200 runs

200-partnership for Jennings & Vilaspublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Somerset 429 v Lancashire 248-2 (77.2 overs)

A mammoth effort from Keaton Jennings and Dane Vilas continues. Somerset must be sick of the sight of them.

Just over two overs until the new ball is available.

  17. Division Two round-uppublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

There's no play yet for Glamorgan v Kent, but there's action elsewhere in Division Two.

England's Dawid Malan is approaching a half-century for Middlesex against Sussex at Hove. He's 46 not out alongside Nick Gubbins (27 not out), with the score on 81-2.

The experienced duo of Ian Bell and Joanthan Trott are at the crease for Warwickshire - all 170 Test caps of them. The score is 52-2, with the Bears needing 37 more runs to beat Derbyshire.

Durham have lost their first wicket of the morning, with Nathan Rimmington going. They're 157-8 in reply to Leicestershire's 440, still 283 runs behind and facing the prospect of following on.

  18. wicket

WICKET Foster (c Bairstow b Coad) 0published at 11:30 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Yorkshire 50 & 329 v Essex 142 & 114-6 (39 overs)

    Ben CoadImage source, Rex

Two in an over for Ben Coad as James Foster gets the thinnest of edges and Jonny Bairstow, standing up to the stumps, takes the catch. Are Yorkshire the favourites now? It's certainly starting to look that way.

  20. wicket

WICKET Ten Doeschate (lbw Coad) 34published at 11:25 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Yorkshire 50 & 329 v Essex 142 & 114-5 (38.2 overs)

A big, big wicket for Yorkshire as Ben Coad removes Essex captain Ryan ten Doeschate, who plays fractionally across the line and fails to make contact with the bat. Yorkshire need five more wickets - Essex need 124 runs. Dan Lawrence is still there on 32 as he is joined by James Foster.
