  1. Eng 98-1published at 18 overs

    Beaumont 48, Taylor 13

Shabnim Ismail, who ate a banana during the drinks break, is replaced at the Cromwell Road End by left-arm seamer Chloe Tryon, but the runs keep flowing for England's second-wicket pair - with Sarah Taylor flicking one over short fine leg.

Here's a Tammy Beaumont reverse sweep from earlier which you may not have seen:

It made my weekend last week when my sister-in-law rang to tell me that my five-year-old niece Rosie Edwards wanted to come to cricket - with no pressure from me whatsoever. So I've bought her the new All Stars Cricket kit which they've designed for five to eight-year-olds.

  4. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 17 overs

    Eng 94-1

Despite being in such a commanding position, there are a few nails being bitten in the England dug-out - Lauren Winfield, a reserve batter in this squad, the biggest offender.

Her erstwhile opening partner Tammy Beaumont is shuttling along nicely, reverse-sweeping with aplomb and closing in on her ninth ODI score in excess of 50.

That looks like drinks - England have Sussex pace bowler Freya Davies, one of the players awarded "rookie" central contracts the other day, on drinks-carrying duty, although she's not part of the "official" squad.

  5. Eng 87-1published at 16 overs

    Beaumont 43, Taylor 8

Ismail into her fifth over, and the fourth of this spell down the hill. Taylor is happy to pick up ones and twos at this stage.

It's overcast in Hove, but there hasn't been really any help for the bowlers in any respect today.

  6. Eng 82-1published at 15 overs

Of all the unforgivable sins in cricket, a no-ball bowled by a spinner is pretty near to the top of the list - if not top. Ntozakhe is punished with a free hit, and punished again as Beaumont bashes the free-hit ball over the bowler's head for two.

You've got a new batter in, and you've got three fielders in the off side who are all on the edge of the ring. They need someone in closer and straighter, in Taylor's eyeline.

  8. Eng 76-1published at 14 overs

    Beaumont 40, Taylor 1

Sarah Taylor, back on her home ground, is allowed an easy single off her first ball, with the infielders right back on the edge of the circle. Ismail tries a bouncer, but the grinning Beaumont helps it on its way for four.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.3 overs

    Jones c Wolvaardt b Ismail 29 (Eng 71-1)

And just like that, Jones' attractive innings can be filed away as an atttractive cameo. Ismail makes the breakthrough as England's opener attempts another full-blooded pull shot but can only guide a catch to the diving Laura Wolvaarrdt at wide mid-wicket.

  10. Eng 70-0published at 13 overs

With no third man in place, Beaumont gets the reverse sweep out of the locker and that's her sixth four.

When you consider England reached 64-6 in the 17th over at Worcester, being 70-0 after 13 represents a return to form.

  11. Eng 65-0published at 12 overs

This is better from Ismail bowling down the hill. After a single from Beaumont, Jones - bat waving like a baseball player as the bowler runs in - watchfully sees of the rest of the over.

  12. Jones hits Kapp over square leg for first six of the matchpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

And here are our first highlights of the day - Amy Jones hits a four, then launches Marizanne Kapp for six.

This is Amy Jones' highest ODI score in England, beating the 19 she made at Worcester on Saturday.

Overseas, her highest score is 94 in Nagpur earlier this year.

  14. Eng 64-0published at 11 overs

    Jones 29, Beaumont 29

Belatedly able to put the field back a bit, South Africa turn to off-spinner Raisibe Ntozakhe - who bowled a very miserly spell in mid-innings for the Proteas at Worcester. Three singles from the over.

  15. Eng 61-0published at 10 overs

Shabnim Ismail has changed ends and will have another go from the Cromwell Road End. There's a brief comedy moment when Beaumont tries to play Ismail into the off side and her bat flies out of her hands, towards short mid-wicket.

Lizelle Lee's wicketkeeping continues to leak runs, handing England four byes before Beaumont swipes another four over backward point.

I've liked Amy Jones for a number of years - she'd openly admit she's not taken the chances that have been given to her, but that 90 she scored in India would have given her a lot of confidence.

  17. Eng 51-0published at 9 overs

    Beaumont 22 (24 balls)

England continue to take advantage of the fielding restrictions - Beaumont hammers Khaka wide of mid-on for four to bring up the fifty stand.

Starting to look like a good toss to lose?

Very, very good batting from Amy Jones. She looks the real deal at the top of the order.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 45-0published at 8 overs

    Jones 27 (30 balls)

Bosh! Amy Jones relishes taking on the short ball from Kapp, and lofts her over square leg - the ball lands squarely on the triangular foam protecting the boundary rope, so that's six! Only the second time she's cleared the ropes in ODIs.

Kapp responds with a brutal yorker which Jones does well to jam her bat down on. But then there's a shot-of-the-day contender from the Warwickshire right-hander

I've been impressed with how straight England have hit today.

And I don't think bowlers like bowling uphill, do they?
