  1. Essex 22-0published at 7 overs

    Chopra 12, Cook 7

    WHACK!

Varun Chopra's had enough of defending and smashes Matt Fisher through mid-wicket on the up.

It was a bit of a slog, but he'll say "look in the book, Gary". You're right Varun. Four runs.

  2. Essex 18-0published at 6 overs

    Chopra 8, Cook 7

Blimey, you don't see that very often from Alastair Cook.

With Ben Coad bowling such a good line, the Essex opener has to create something so he swipes a short-arm pull through mid-wicket to the boundary.

Good shot, if not the most elegant looking.

  3. Essex 13-0published at 5 overs

Matt Fisher sends down another fine over for Yorkshire.

Is Alastair Cook getting frustrated? The Essex opener tries to hoick the paceman through mid-wicket but it goes straight to the fielder.

Cook has three off 13 deliveries.

  4. Essex 12-0published at 4 overs

    Chopra 6, Cook 3

Varun Chopra finally pierces the field, but the ball is pulled up just inside the boundary rope - three runs to the right hander.

Alastair Cook then squeezes Ben Coad over point - but it was an incredibly uncomfortable looking shot by the England man.

Yorkshire's bowlers have started really well.

  5. Essex 7-0published at 3 overs

    Chopra 3, Cook 1

Essex are in no rush here, they don't need to be. 260 isn't a particularly big score to chase by modern standards.

It's a tidy second over from Matt Fisher which finishes with a ball that swings miles past Alastair Cook's outside edge.

  6. Essex 6-0published at 2 overs

    Chopra 2, Cook 1

Ben Coad takes the new ball from the other end and concedes just one off his first.

Alastair Cook steps into a dreamy cover drive at the end of the over but straight to the fielder.

  7. Essex 5-0 (target 260)published at 1 over

    Chopra 1, Cook 1

It's a real mixed bag first up from Matthew Fisher.

The right-arm seamer sends down a couple of wides, but in between bowls some decent lines.

    Essex are up and running.

  8. Essex 2-0published at 0 overs

    Chopra 0, Cook 0

Varun Chopra faces the first ball for Essex and it's a massive wide down the leg side from Matthew Fisher.

Alastair Cook, his opening partner, races through for a single to take the strike.

    Thanks Mr Newsum.

In other news, Russia have just beaten Saudi Arabia 5-0 in some other tournament that's going on.

But we don't care about that (much) - it's time for some cricket. And Essex will feel Yorkshire have set them plenty more than they once threatened.
