    Worcestershire 34-2 v Lancashire

If I was looking to take someone into the trenches with me - Daryl Mitchell would probably be top of that list.

The Worcestershire opener has only scored four in the opening 50 minutes at New Road, but is doing the business for his county.

    Dig in Daryl.

Ellis Warren: The best outground is either Gateshead Fell. Or South North.

Can't say I'm familiar with either Ellis, but a quick internet search has indeed confirmed they are picturesque!

Matt Quinn wicketImage source, Rex Features

There's the first wicket at Chelmsford and it's a mistake from Jake Libby.

The Notts openers shoulders arms to Matt Quinn and the ball clatters into his stumps.

Samit Patel joins stand-in captain Chris Nash at the crease.

    Worcestershire 32-2 v Lancashire

Joe Clarke is already up and running for Worcestershire with three quick boundaries - the latest a super pull over mid-wicket off Graham Onions.

Clarke is one of England's great prospects - he has all the talent in the world but needs to convert it into consistent scores.

    Surrey 24-0 v Somerset

    Rory BurnsImage source, Rex Features

I mentioned earlier that Surrey captain Rory Burns is in some nick - he is in fact the leading run scorer in either division with 508 and counting.

Surrey don't seem too affected by the late withdrawal of Mark Stoneman for family reasons - Burns and Arun Harinath have started well.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 20 June 2018

Durham chose to bowl first at Arundel, where Sussex are 18-1. Luke Wells is the man out, caught by Tom Latham off the bowling of Matthew Salisbury.

Leicestershire are 25-1 at Grace Road after winning the toss and deciding to bat first against Middlesex. Tim Murtagh struck early for the visitors, bowling Paul Horton for eight.

Warwickshire are bowling first against Kent at Tunbridge Wells, where the home side are wobbling on 18-2, with both openers dismissed. Daniel Bell-Drummond was caught behind for seven and Keith Barker bowled Sean Dickson for one.

Rain is delaying the start of Glamorgan's match against Derbyshire at Swansea.

A reminder that Northants are playing Gloucestershire in a day-night match at Northampton, which will get under way (weather permitting) at 13:30 BST.

Guildford is looking a picture, even in the murk.

    I do love an outground!

    Fell b Bailey 10 (Worcs 15-2 v Lancs)

    Worcestershire are in early trouble...

Tom Fell flicks a couple of boundaries off Tom Bailey, but then chops onto his stumps.

Joe Clarke is the new man in.

    Essex v Notts 16-0

    Matt QuinnImage source, Rex Features

Essex paceman Matt Quinn is making his first appearance in more than a year for the county champions after missing most of last season with a back injury.

He's opening the bowling with Jamie Porter, but Chris Nash and Jake Libby are holding firm.

It also feels like a bowling morning at Guildford.

No breakthrough for Somerset in the first few overs though with Rory Burns and Arun Harinath playing watchfully.

    Guptill c Vilas b Onions 2 (Worcs 4-1 v Lancs)

There's the first wicket of the day in Division One...

Martin Guptill's debut for Worcestershire only lasts eight balls as he tickles Graham Onions behind while attempting a leave. Strange shot from the New Zealander.

It's overcast at New Road - feels like a morning for the seamers.

    Surrey 6-0 v Somerset

The other big team news from Guildford is that Jack Leach returns to the Somerset side after breaking a thumb in May.

The England spinner is alongside fellow England man Dom Bess in the Somerset line-up.

  13. Mullaney away with England Lionspublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 20 June 2018

    Essex v Notts 4-0

In the third and final of this morning's Division One games Chris Nash and Jake Libby are opening for Notts.

Nash is captaining the side in the absence of regular skipper and opener Steven Mullaney who is away with England Lions.

  14. Stoneman out for Surreypublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 20 June 2018

    Surrey 3-0 v Somerset

Meanwhile at Guildford there is no Mark Stoneman for Surrey.

The opener has pulled out of the game at the last minute for "family reasons".

Arun Harinath is opening with in-form captain Rory Burns.

  15. Guptill in for Headpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 20 June 2018

    Worcestershire 0-0 v Lancashire

Martin Guptill is opening for Worcestershire today.

The New Zealand batsman has replaced Australia's Travis Head for a couple of County Championship matches while Head is playing in the ODI series.

Daryl Mitchell is in the middle at New Road with him - a couple of highly experienced heads out there the Division One strugglers who need to start picking up wins.

After England's record-breaking 481-6 in the third ODI against Australia yesterday, I can't promise the same frenetic run-scoring.

But we've got some cracking games including County Championship leaders Somerset taking on second-placed Surrey at Guildford.

    Here's what's coming up...
