    Essex 206 v Notts 380 & 7-0

Nottinghamshire decide not to make Essex follow on and out come openers Jake Libby and Chris Nash.

The lead is already approaching 200, the county champions will need to pull off something special to get anything out of this one.

  7. 150 for Mitchellpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Worcestershire 247 & 318-1 v Lancashire 130

Absolutely sublime from the former skipper.

WICKETpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Gregory c Borthwick b Patel 4 (Surrey 459 v Somerset 174-6)

    Now they're in deep strife.

The 20-year-old has turned the game in a matter of minutes.

  9. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

Gloucestershire are heading for defeat against Northants at Northampton. They've recovered slightly from 72-5 to 103-5 following on after two wickets in two balls by Brett Hutton. They trail by 117.

No such alarm bells so far in this session for Derbyshire at Swansea, who are 164-2 and trail Glamorgan by 119.

Will Smith is at the crease for Durham at Arundel and has helped to steer the visitors to 178-4, still 374 runs behind Sussex. Paul Collingwood was the last man out (lbw to Luke Wells) for 44.

Middlesex are closing in on their first batting point against Leicestershire at Grace Road, but there's plenty of work to be done to get near their first innings 427. They're on 186-4.

Kent have passed the 300-mark in their second innings at Tunbridge Wells, where Joe Denly has just been dismissed for 119. They're 306-4 and lead Warwickshire by 378 runs.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Byrom lbw b Patel 52 (Surrey 459 v Somerset 169-5)

That's a big wicket at Guildford.

Medium-pacer Ryan Patel strikes with his first ball, pinning Ed Byrom lbw for 52.

Somerset are in more than a spot of bother now.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Quinn c Libby b Carter 16 (Essex 206 v Notts 380)

    Essex are all out.

Matt Quinn swipes Matt Carter to Jake Libby at deep mid-wicket and Essex have failed to avoid the follow-on.

Whether or not Notts enforce it remains to be seen.

  12. Joe Denly out for 119 at Tunbridge Wellspublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Kent 197 & 303-4 (81.4 overs) v Warwickshire 125

This has been a fine effort from Joe Denly, who also contributed 59 out of 197 in tough conditions in Kent's first innings.

Jeetan Patel pins him lbw for his second wicket of the innings.

  13. 200 up for Essexpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Essex 206-9 v Notts 380

Essex creep past 200 to bring up their first batting bonus point.

The next target is 231 to avoid the follow-on. That seems a long way away at nine wickets down, but Jamie Porter and Matt Quinn are batting nicely.

  14. Postpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Surrey 459 v Somerset 164-4

Steven Davies is a joy to watch when in full flow.

The Somerset wicketkeeper has just biffed teenage spinner Amar Virdi for three fours in an over and is up to 28.

  15. Gloucestershire collapse againpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Northants 282 v Gloucestershire 62 & 72-5 (f/o)

Two wickets in two balls for Brett Hutton!

First he has George Hankins caught at second slip by Richard Levi off a loose drive for 10.

Then he pins Graeme van Buuren lbw for a first-baller. Gloucestershire are 72-5, still 148 behind.

  16. 50 for Byrompublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Surrey 459 v Somerset 151-4

Ed Byrom has been a rock for Somerset.

The young opener reaches his fifty off 134 balls.

Still plenty of rebuilding work to do with Steven Davies though - they trail by 308 at Guildford.

  17. 50 for Malanpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Leicestershire 427 v Middlesex 165-4

Middlesex are still a long way behind but there's still hope with Dawid Malan at the crease.

The England batsman brings up his 50 off 77 balls with a neat clip off Ben Raine to mid-wicket for his ninth four.

  18. Durham dig in at Arundelpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Sussex 552 v Durham 158-3

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Will Smith has been providing some stubborn resistance with the bat from a Durham point of view. He has 68 and has put on 56 with Paul Collingwood for the fourth wicket so far, in a steady 18 overs.

Earlier Sussex made 552, their highest score in Arundel, but on a track made for runs Durham were 100-3 at tea with Tom Latham gone for two and Cameron Steel (20) and Graham Clark (27) also out.

This wicket requires concentration and determination but there are certainly runs to be had in the sunshine of Arundel Castle.

Sussex Coach Jason Gillespsie is on air with us now and says the first task is to bowl Durham out and have them follow-on. The target to avoid the follow-on is 403.

  19. Mennie out of match at New Roadpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Worcestershire 247 & 296-1 v Lancashire 130

    Joe MennieImage source, Rex Features

Lancashire paceman Joe Mennie will take no further part in the game against Worcestershire after he was struck on the head by a Martin Guptill drive earlier.

Danny Lamb will replace the Australian as a 'concussion replacement' - the first since new rules were introduced at the start of this season.

Lamb will be able to play a full part in the game being ‘like for like’

Assistant coach Mark Chilton spoke to BBC Radio Lancashire's Scott Read:

“It’s a head injury and he’s being monitored. He was conscious at all times but understandably dazed by it. He was feeling better by tea and he hasn’t gone to hospital yet. We’ll keep a close eye on it. If it’s proved he suffered concussion then there is a protocol we’ll have to follow.”

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Wagner c Fletcher b Carter 37 (Essex 185-9 v Notts 380)

Neil Wagner's blitz is finally ended by Matt Carter.

The New Zealander blasts his third six but then falls next ball to the spinner, skying one to backward point.

Wagner hit four fours and three sixes in his 23-ball innings. He didn't do much running, put it that way.
