  11. Surrey in charge at Guildfordpublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Surrey 459 v Somerset 8-0 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

Surrey’s 459 is probably at least 100 more than par on a pitch offering bounce and occasional sharp movement for the quicker bowlers.

Put that down to a mixture of top-class batting, Pope’s 117 being an innings of genuine class, inconsistent bowling, and luck. The edges went to ground, or found the gaps and the marginal LBW decisions went Surrey’s way.

The scale of the challenge now faced by Somerset’s batsmen was underlined by the sight of Morne Morkel charging in from the Railway End for two fast and hostile overs before lunch.

His contest with Somerset’s Australian Test opener, with three Championship centuries under his belt, Matt Renshaw, should make great watching - and listening!

  12. Sussex make hay in Arundel sunshinepublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Sussex 552 v Durham 2-1 - Lunch

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Sussex posted their highest score in a first-class match at Arundel.

Their 552 beats the 550 they scored here in a comprehensive win against Yorkshire in 2006.

Durham got off to a decent start with Chris Rushworth taking two wickets in two balls in the third over of the day. Ben Brown skied him to the keeper on 52 and David Wiese went for a first baller, lbw.

But Michael Burgess continued where he left off last night and looked set to become the third player to reach a century in the innings. However he was becalmed in the 90s and started to struggle to time his shots, eventually departing on 96 as he edged Josh Coughlin to Will Smith at backward point.

Durham also saw Cameron Steel banned from bowling in his 5th over after delivering his second beamer.

With three overs to go before lunch Tom Latham was caught at slip, Jofra Archer the bowler. This is going to be a real test of what Durham are made of. They are still 550 behind.

There are no excuses for not scoring runs on this road of a track either. Meanwhile there’s another good crowd enjoying the sunshine. There were around 3,000 here on day one.

  13. Leicestershire 'have very good score'published at 13:21 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Lunch: Leicestershire 427 v Middlesex 8-0

    Kevin Hand
BBC Radio London at Grace Road

It was Leicestershire's session again as they ground Middlesex down with the last two wickets to post 427 - in doing so equally their record ninth-wicket partnership against the Lord's-based county.

Colin Ackerman hit a first-class best of 196 but was left stranded as the visitors finally wrapped up proceedings 25 minutes before lunch.

Sam Robson and Max Holden survived a tricky four overs before the interval but the hosts have a very good score on a track that has displayed a fair bit of inconsistent bounce - including one that climbed from James Harris to dismiss Gavin Griffiths, who gloved to point.

  14. 'Few alarms' for Derbyshire openerspublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Lunch: Glamorgan 283 v Derbyshire 28-0

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport at Swansea

Derbyshire reached 28-0 with few alarms for Ben Slater and Harvey Hosein in their half-hour’s batting before lunch as conditions continued to ease.

Glamorgan added a further 103 runs for the loss of their last three wickets on day two, Andrew Salter leading the way with 72 not out including two sixes.

Prem Sisodiya, with 38 on his debut, and Lukas Carey (28) contributed to the counter-attack which led them to respectability from the depths of 52-5.

Tony Palladino finished with 5-69 after swinging the ball ferociously during the early overs on day one.

  15. Lancashire 'blown away' at New Roadpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Lunch: Worcestershire 247 & 57-0 v Lancashire 130

    Scott Read
BBC Radio Lancashire at New Road

Daryl Mitchell and Martin Guptill's decision to come out and take the attack to Lancashire has paid off so far, helped by the cushion of a first innings lead of 117 runs.

That's now been increased to 175 and on a pitch which has already seen 20 wickets fall before lunch on day two, and Worcestershire supporters are eyeing up their first County Championship win of the season.

Lancashire were blown away last night and this morning, losing 10-53 - a collapse which will do little to help eradicate concerns about a relegation scrap this season.

  16. Interval scorespublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

  17. Lunch at Guildfordpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Surrey 459 v Somerset 8-0

A morning session which belonged to Surrey and Ollie Pope comes to an end.

The 20-year-old brought up his third first-class century of the season in helping Surrey to 459.

Matt Renshaw and Ed Byrom will resume batting after the interval.

  18. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Essex 18-1 v Notts 380

Essex pair Alastair Cook and Tom Westley stroll off.

It's still pretty even, but the wicket of Varun Chopra just before lunch has certainly given Notts a boost.

  19. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Worcestershire 247 & 57-0 v Lancashire 130

Lancashire will be delighted to get off the field.

A batting collapse in the first hour was followed by Daryl Mitchell and Martin Guptill making batting look easy for the hosts.

The lead is already up to 174 and we've only had four sessions.

Tez: I've lost count of the number of collapses we have had this season. Looks like we're getting relegated which is ridiculous considering the talent we have. A sad day for a Lancs fan.

Yeah it wasn't pretty Tez. Lancashire lost 10 wickets for 53 over the course of yesterday evening and this morning.
