    558 behind.

Oh, no! That's the last thing Somerset needed!

That's Morne Morkel's third wicket in this innings.

Lewis Gregory edges the South African paceman to slip and Rikki Clarke takes the catch.

Over to Dom Bess now. He can bat a bit, as we saw in the Test series against Pakistan.

    Thanks, Gary.

Three matches in progress in Division One at the moment, with one more to come when Hampshire and Yorkshire resume in the day-nighter at Southampton at 14:00 BST.

Somerset are fighting for survival at Guildford, Lancashire face a huge target at New Road and Notts are battling hard to set Essex a tough target at Chelmsford.

  15. Postpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

Right, I'm off for a bit.

Ben Pheazey will take you through the afternoon session, where we could well have a couple of results decided.

  16. Resumption at Northantspublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    Northants 282 v Gloucestershire 62 & 245-8 (f/o)

Play is about to begin on day three in the day-night game at Wantage Road.

Surely it's only a matter of time before the hosts wrap this one up? They need two more wickets.

Gloucestershire lead by 25 with Craig Miles and Matt Taylor at the crease. The pair will look to extend their partnership of 73 to as many as they can...

  17. Spirited fightback by Essexpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    Essex 206 v Notts 380 & 123-5 - lunch

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Essex are still in contention in this match after a spirited fight back in the second hour of the morning.

With Nottinghamshire making steady progress Matt Coles, replacing Ryan ten Doeschate for this game, removed Samit Patel and Ross Taylor in successive overs before Neil Wagner bowled opener Jake Libby for 51.

Had Simon Harmer at second slip held a chance in the same over Essex would have been right back in the contest.

As it is Nottinghamshire, with Riki Wessels and Billy Root getting established, will be confident of taking their lead of 297 beyond 350, probably a winning lead on a pitch still offering help to the bowlers.

  18. Sussex look for three-day winpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    Sussex 552 v Durham 211 & 56-1 (f/o) - lunch

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

If I had suggested to the Durham batsman Will Smith this morning he would be batting at lunch, he would have taken that. Sadly this is in his second innings and his dismissal fifth ball of the day, lbw to Danny Briggs, sparked a collapse which saw Durham all out for 211.

They lost six wickets for nine runs in 9.5 overs, with David Wiese taking 4-4 in 30 balls. And they were quickly following on with a deficit of 341.

Cameron Steel then shouldered arms to lose his off-stump on eight but at lunch Durham are 56-1 and still 285 behind.

  19. A wake-up call for Somersetpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    Surrey 459 v Somerset 180 & 106-5 (f/o) - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

When Steve Davies was caught in the slips off Rikki Clarke for 9, Somerset, over their two innings, had lost 11 wickets for 90 runs in 26.5 overs, on a pitch playing no differently than in had in Surrey’s first innings of 459!

James Hildreth and Lewis Gregory have since restored some sanity and pride in a pragmatic stand of 37, but Somerset are still staring a heavy defeat in the face.

As wake-up calls go, they don’t come much more jangling than this.

  20. Middlesex still face uphill taskpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    Leicestershire 427 & 56-4 v Middlesex 233 - lunch

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Middlesex fought back impressively with the ball on the third morning to restrict Leicestershire to 56-4, having resumed on 0-1.

Tim Murtagh bowled a 12-over spell that was eventually rewarded with the wicket of Harry Dearden, who defied the visitors for 71 balls for his 6.

The hosts opener had been dropped on 0 by Sam Robson, who left the field with an injured finger as a result, off the bowling of the luckless James Harris.

The pitch is still showing signs of inconsistent bounce and with a lead of 250 already the hosts will know even 50 more may be unassailable on this surface.
