  1. Yorkshire pair fristrate Somersetpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 274-5 v Somerset 399

Close call for a run out against Andrew Hodd.

Has he grounded his bat? Not out.

Kohler-Cadmore drives Jack Leach into the off side but can't get the single.

A Leach arm ball is left alone as the ball bounces over the stumps. Nothing doing for the Somerset spinner so far.

Tom Abell brings himself on to bowl.

  2. Could bad light stop play at Southport?published at 17:33 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 229-9 (lead by 290 runs)

Still 15 overs left in the day at Southport, so a bit of overtime might be on the cards.

With nine Worcester wickets down, that might not be good news for the Lancashire openers (especially poor young Haseeb Hameed, on a pair after his first innings duck), who might yet have to face a few testing overs tonight.

But the way those clouds are looming over in the Liverpool direction, they may yet be saved by bad light.

    It’s getting gloomy here!

  3. new ball

New ball taken and Fidel frustratedpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 296-5 v Hampshire

    Dan LawrenceImage source, Rex Features

Dan Lawrence continues to stand outside leg and then shuffle across and forward. It's worked for him up to now.

Jimmy Adams drops an edge off the next ball from Fidel Edwards!

It's a no ball! And that's also the 50 partnership.

    Phew, as you were.

  4. Leach tempting the drivepublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 263-5 v Somerset 399

Jack Leach will continue from the Football Stand End.

He tosses it right up to Kohler-Cadmore, who no doubt has spotted the long-on and long-off.

He pushes safely forward to run a single. Hodd defends.

  5. wicket

WICKET Parnell c Jones b Maharaj 50published at 17:27 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 226-9 (lead by 287 runs)

Mixed emotions for Wayne Parnell, who reaches his 50 but is then caught at short leg two balls later off Keshav Maharaj.

It's another sizeable contribution for Worcestershire, who have passed their first innings total to reach 226-9 - a lead of 287 runs.

Dillon Pennington is the last man in - if he and Josh Tongue can push the lead to 300 that could have a psychological effect on Lancashire.

  6. Wheater stands firmpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 289-5 v Hampshire

Three slips in now for Kyle Abbott and Adam Wheater plays defensively into the on side.

He pushes into the off and sprints through for a single.

The return through hits the stumps but the batsman made it.

    It's tense out there.

  7. Somerset put to the sword by the Yorkistspublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 263-5 v Somerset 399

Tough times for Somerset, who are finding wickets a bit harder to come by than title rivals Surrey at the Oval.

Big appeal for lbw by Jack Leach against Andrew Hodd but it's a no from the umpire. Too high?

Yorkshire are 136 behind now. New ball in eight overs.

  8. Wheater keeps Berg at baypublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 280-5 v Hampshire

Gareth Berg is giving Adam Wheater nothing to hit here...

Until now! A rare half volley is driven straight down the ground for four runs. Lovely shot.

  9. Notts survive early pressurepublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 101 & 8-0 (trail by 266 runs)

Notts survive the first five overs of Tom Curran and Morne Morkel as they follow-on at The Oval.

They're 8-0 and trail leaders Surrey by 266 runs.

It's been a good day for the Curran brothers - Tom getting five wickets for Surrey and Sam 47 not out for England in the fourth Test against India.

  10. Somerset search for the answerpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 252-5 v Somerset 399

Good partnership between Kohler-Cadmore and Hodd, who are rolling along at four runs an over with a bit less risk than we saw from the former before.

Jamie Overton beats Hodd outside the off stump but can't find the edge. Hint of away swing?

Shot! Hodd drives through point for four to move to 62.

Good take from Steven Davies to stop a leg side ball running away for byes, but there's no stopping the next one, which rolls away to fine leg to take the White Rose past 250.

Matt Henry has strugggled after returning to Kent for the last five County Championship hames of the season

It seems highly likely that this game will go to a fourth day as Derbyshire follow in Kent’s high-scoring footsteps.

A pitch friendly to the batsman has meant Billy Godleman has breezed to his 50, the Derbyshire skipper on track for his second century in as many games.

Wayne Madsen looks secure next to him, meaning the hosts are setting themselves for something big.

For those Kent supporters hoping for a wondrous comeback performance from Matt Henry - well figures of 11-0-56-0 might disappoint you.

  12. Wheater and Lawrence at the crease for Essexpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 265-5 v Hampshire

The Essex keeper-batsman is well forward to Liam Dawson, playing with pad and bat close together.

Gareth Berg drops short at the other end and Lawrence whips the bowler through mid wicket for four - then picks up another run with a drive through mid off.

One more for Wheater with a drive through the off side.

  13. wicket

WICKET Twohig c Vilas b Onions 14published at 17:02 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 200-8 (lead by 261 runs)

Ben Twohig walks for 14, having nicked Graham Onions behind for Dane Vilas to catch.

Josh Tongue in for Worcestershire to join Wayne Parnell - on 35 - with the Pears 200-8 and leading Lancashire by a whopping 261 runs at Southport.

  14. ouch!

Notts' Brathwaite hit on helmetpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 101 & 2-0 (trail by 272 runs)

Kraigg Brathwaite is OK but that looked a nasty one into the helmet.

He tries to hook a lightning quick Morne Morkel ball before trying to get out of the way - but fails on both fronts.

We've got a stoppage at The Oval while a new helmet is located for Brathwaite - but the West Indies opener will be fine to continue.

  15. Slowly but surely for White rosepublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 242-5 v Somerset 399

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is well forward to Josh Davey and defends into the off side.

Quiet passage of play here with less help from the surface than we saw earlier. The new ball is still 14 overs away.

  16. Sussex gain momentum at Lord'spublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Middlesex 169 & 143-4 v Sussex 167 (lead by 145 runs)

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

A wicket either side of tea has swung the pendulum slightly back the way of Sussex.

Firstly Steve Eskinazi was caught behind off the bowling of Ollie Robinson, and then Eoin Morgan - out for the second time in the match - playing on to Chris Jordan.

The general consensus seems to be that Middlesex will need a lead of at least 250 on a pitch which is still offering some help to the seamers.

For that to happen much depends on Dawid Malan, who survived a huge appeal for caught behind off Jofra Archer when he had made just 18.

  17. Worcestershire lead up to 250published at 16:54 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 192-7 (lead by 253 runs)

Wayne Parnell (30*) and Ben Twohig (10*) have steered Worcestershire to 192-7 at Southport, a lead of 253 runs.

Given the Pears were 56-4 it's been a highly impressive second innings from the visitors.

No matter what happens now Lancashire will be outsiders for their run chase.

  18. Surrey enforce follow-onpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 101 & 0-0 (trail by 274 runs)

Surrey have unsurprisingly chosen to make Notts follow-on - they lead by 274 runs after dismissing the visitors for just 101.

The Division One leaders are really putting Notts to the sword and they'll fancy their chances of winning by an innings at The Oval.

    Gone!

Ian Holland gets the edge as Ryan ten Doeschate prods at one that leaves him on the line of off stump.

Easy catch for Jimmy Adams at slip.

  20. Bad light stops play at Colwyn Baypublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Glamorgan 203 v Warwks 346-6

Warwickshire leave the filed with a lead of 143 runs.

Big day for Ian Bell, who passed 20,000 career runs at first class level in his innings and he'll return when the light improves on 160 not out.
