  1. White Rose struggle at Headingleypublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 126-5 v Somerset 399

Josh Davey is still getting bounce and movement with this ball, now in its 40th over.

Andy Hodd defends off the back foot.

The sixth ball is short and the batsman hooks it around the corner for one.

  2. Early afternoon wickets for Hampshirepublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 150-4 v Hampshire

    Dan LawrenceImage source, Rex Features

Fidel Edwards is back in the attack and Dan Lawrence gets a leg side ball which he nudges around the corner for four.

    A rare freebie from Hampshire.

  3. Derbyshire start solidly after Kent keep us waitingpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Derbyshire 30-0 (9 overs) v Kent 561

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Derby

When Kent batsman Matt Henry and Adam Riley waltzed off at lunch, with the score 534-8, it seemed pretty obvious that the visitors would declare.

Well, it didn’t work out like that.

Both came back out, and adding what seemed a rather academic 27 runs as Kent managed a mammoth 561, though Matt Henry did achieve his career best score of 81.

Kent’s bowling line-up hasn’t been potent this season, and Matt Henry’s return gives them extra sting.

Though Derbyshire debutant Tom Lace and Billy Godleman have neutralised them well so far, showing the batter-friendly nature of this pitch.

  4. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

Plenty of talking points in the Division Two games and one or two results may not be far away...

Derbyshire have begun their second innings at Derby after finally dislodging Kent for 561 - with Matt Henry and Grant Stewart both weighing in with half centuries down the order.

The hosts are 26-0 and trail by 535.

At the Riverside Durham are 115-6 against Northants and lead by a slender 46 runs after ending the visitors' innings in just four and a half overs earlier today.

Ian Bell is guiding Warwickshire to a handy lead over Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay, where the visitors have 274-4. Ian Bell is 121 not out.

Leicestershire have slipped to 104-6 against Gloucestershire at Bristol, with two wickets each now for David Payne, Ryan Higgins and Craig Miles. They trail by 98.

Middlesex are 66-2 against Sussex at Lord's and lead by 64.

Sam Robson was the last man out, lbw to Ollie Robinson for 15.

  5. wicket

WICKET Root c Foakes b McKerr 6published at 14:51 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 39-5

It goes from bad to worse for Notts!

Billy Root tries forcing a Conor McKerr ball through point but the shot isn't there, and he nicks it to Surrey keeper Ben Foakes.

It's McKerr's first wicket, leaving Notts 39-5 as Tom Moores joins fellow new batsman Riki Wessels.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Leaning c & b Davey 4published at 14:49 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 119-5 v Somerset 399

Jack Leaning is completely bamboozled by Josh Davey who bowls a straight line with a bit of movement...

The batsman pushes at it and watches in horror as the ball balloons off a leading edge. Comfortably caught.

  7. wicket

    WICKET Ballance c Leach b C Overton 37published at 14:45 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 119-4 v Somerset 399

Absolute disaster for Yorkshire, as Gary Ballance plays across the line off Craig Overton and Jack Leach seizes his chance on the on side.

Jack Leaning is joined by Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

  8. wicket

    WICKET c Patel b T Curran Libby 12published at 14:45 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 38-4

Surrey are right on top now at The Oval - Tom Curran takes his third wicket, this time getting Jake Libby caught for 12.

It's a wide tempting ball from Curran, who's playing his first red-ball game since the Sydney Ashes Test at the start of the year.

Riki Wessels in for Notts who are 38-4 - 337 runs behind.

  9. wicket

WICKET Bopara c Adams b Abbott 4published at 14:35 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 124-4 v Hampshire

Ravi Bopara checks out early after edging a straight ball from Kyle Abbott and Jimmy Adams seizes a low catch in the slips.

Essex are in big trouble here.

Dan Lawrence is joined by Ryan ten Doeschate.

  10. Pears quietly adding runspublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 89-4 (lead by 150 runs)

Alex Milton and Ben Cox have added 33 runs for Worcestershire's fifth wicket, which may not sound like much but in the context of this low-scoring match could be important.

The lead is up to 150 as well, slowly but surely taking the game away from Lancashire - but the Red Rose are far from out of this.

  11. wicket

WICKET Lyth c Trescothick b Davey 45published at 14:33 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 111-3 v Somerset 399

    What a catch!

Adam Lyth edges an away-seamer from Josh Davey and Marcus Trescothick at second slip dives across the first slipper to pluck the ball inches from the ground.

    Huge wicket for Somerset.

  12. wicket

WICKET Chopra lbw b Abbott 61published at 14:25 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 120-3 v Hampshire

    Kyle AbbottImage source, Rex Features

Not much doubt about that one, as Kyle Abbott gets another ball to nip back sharply just back of a length.

Varun Chopra jabs down with his bat but can't make contact.

Great session for the visitors so far.

    Ravi Bopara to bat next.

  13. Lyth guides Yorkshire past 100published at 14:24 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 102-2 v Somerset

Adam Lyth cuts a short one from Craig Overton and picks up another four through backward point.

Full toss and that's four more - driven through mid off, to take the White Rose past 100.

The bowler lost his radar a bit there and kicks at the turf in frustration.

  14. wicket

WICKET Patel lbw Morkel 5published at 14:21 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 20-3

Notts are three down, and it's their stand-in skipper who's next to go!

Morne Morkel gets his first wicket, finding the right length to trap Samit Patel lbw for five.

Patel was stuck on his crease and knew he'd been done. Notts in trouble on 20-3 - still 355 runs adrift of Surrey's first-innings total.

  15. Slow start for Lawrencepublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 120-2 v Hampshire

Just the one run from Dan Lawrence so far but there's a bit of low bounce and movement on this surface so defense is key.

Gareth Berg bowls a very tight line and the batsman pushes safely to mid on. No run there.

  16. 20,00 First Class runs for Ian Bellpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Glamorgan 203 v Warwickshire 243-4

It's been a good day for the Bears so far and a great one for their senior batsman...

  17. wicket

WICKET Brathwaite lbw T Curran 2published at 14:14 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 13-2

Tom Curran gets his second wicket in as many overs for Surrey - trapping Kraigg Brathwaite lbw for just two runs.

Was it sliding down leg side? The umpires thinks not and Notts are 13-2 and have stand-in skipper Samit Patel in at four.

Surrey's 375 looks pretty impressive right now on this Oval pitch.

  18. ouch!

Adam Lyth struggles against Gregorypublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 88-2 v Somerset 399

Ooh! Adam Lyth gets an inside edge off a quick seaming ball from Gregory, which strikes the batsman on the inner thigh... or possibly an even more vital area.

    Hard work, this batting lark.

Shot! Lyth gets a rare bit of respite with a half volley - which the batsman drives through mid off for four.

  19. wicket

WICKET Westley b Abbott 40published at 14:09 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 117-2 v Hampshire

Kyle Abbott is back into the attack....

And he's gone! Tom Westley is beaten by an absolute peach which cuts back off the seam and crashes into the off stump.

The new man is Dan Lawrence.

  20. wicket

    WICKET Slater c Foakes b T Curran 9published at 14:07 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 12-1

Division One leaders Surrey have an early breakthrough.

Notts debutant Ben Slater showed promising early signs but edges to slip, where Rikki Clarke juggles the ball into Ben Foakes' gloves.

It's Tom Curran's first wicket of the summer, surprisingly - Notts 12-1 and Jake Libby joins Kraigg Brathwaite.
