  1. Tea at Chelmsford and 50 for Lawrencepublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 229-4 v Hampshire

That's just his second 50 in this campaign after a tough summer in which he was averaging 21 in this format before today.

He pulls a short one from the last ball of Berg's 10 over through mid wicket for four to reach his 50 off 83 balls with eight fours.

Not a bad way to go into tea!

  2. Tea at Southportpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 159-6 (lead by 220 runs)

The session belongs to Worcestershire, with a 61-run fifth wicket partnership between Ben Cox and Alex Milton helping them to 159-6 at tea.

Lancashire trail by 220 runs and still need four more wickets before they can have a go at chasing down the total.

A lot of work to do for Division One's bottom side...

  3. 100 partnership for Lawrence and ten Doeschatepublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 224-4 v Hampshire

Gareth Berg gets one to nip wickedly off the seam and pass the groping bat of Dan Lawrence.

He pushes into the covers for one - and that's the 100 partnership for him and Ryan ten Doeschate.

  4. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 195-5 v Somerset 399

    Quite a session all round!

Yorkshire lurched from 111-2 to 119-5 within three overs and Kohler-Cadmore survived a couple of close shaves.

He's put on 76 with Andrew Hodd ( 41 not out) since then and Somerset will be keen to regroup after the break.

Five more needed for the first batting point - and for the White Rose hopefully many more to come after that.

  5. wicket

WICKET Wood c Foakes b Morkel 8published at 15:49 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 80-7

Morne Morkel teases a leading edge from Luke Wood, who is caught behind for eight to leave Notts 80-7.

They're 295 runs behind and Surrey thoughts will surely turn to whether they enforce a seemingly inevitable follow-on.

Luke Fletcher in for the visitors alongside Tom Moores.

  6. Division Two round-uppublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

Here's the state of play in Division Two...

Durham have collapsed to 133 all out at the Riverside, handing Northants a post-tea target of 65 to win. Ben Sanderson took four second innings wickets. Nathan Buck and Richard Gleeson weighed in with three each.

Derbyshire have got off to a solid start against Kent at Derby, but the hosts remain well behind at 65-0 - a deficit of 496.

Warwickshire are 309-5 against Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay and lead by Ian Bell continues to be a thorn in the side for the hosts and is now 141 not out.

Gloucestershire have fought back well at Bristol where they dismissed Leicestershire for just 11. They've just started their second innings now and are on 0-0, leading by 91.

Meanwhile at Lord's, Middlesex have found batting a bit easier second time round and have reached 114-2 - a lead of 112 runs over Sussex.

  7. Andrew Hodd fighting backpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 186-5 v Somerset 399

Big appeal for lbw against Andrew Hodd by Lewis Gregory but it hasn't been given.

The batsman picks up a four off a leg side ball which is nudged behind square.

Shot! Gregory over-pitches and is driven for four through the off side.

  8. Parnell knocks Maharaj for sixpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 152-6 (lead by 213 runs)

Worcestershire's Wayne Parnell strikes a six off Keshav Maharaj as they extend their lead over Lancashire to more than 200 runs.

The Pears are 152-6 with a lead of 213 runs, which means the Red Rose are likely to need the biggest score of the match at Southport for an unlikely victory.

  9. 6 runs

    Kohler-Cadmore v Jack Leachpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 168-5 v Somerset 399

Jack Leach immediately gets turn and bounce outside the off stump and Kohler-Cadmore sways out of the way.

He gets well forward to defend and then miscues a shot off a full toss but the ball lands safely.

He goes over the top and belts the bowler over his head for a maximum. New balls, please.

  10. wicket

WICKET Wessels c Jacks b McKerr 12published at 15:32 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 70-6

Riki Wessels drives one to backward point off the bowling of Conor McKerr and is caught for 12.

Will Jacks takes the catch and Notts continue to collapse at 70-6, trailing leaders Surrey by 305 runs as Luke Wood comes in at eight.

  11. wicket

WICKET Milton c Vilas b Maharaj 37published at 15:29 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 130-6 (lead by 191 runs)

Alex Milton is caught behind off Keshav Maharaj for 37.

The Lancashire spinner is having some joy, which will encourage a Worcestershire side with two spinners in their bowling attack.

The Pears are 130-6, leading by 191 runs as Wayne Parnell comes in.

  12. Essex recovering at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 184-4 v Hampshire

Dan Lawrence tries to force Ian Holland through the covers off the back foot but there's no run and next plays inside the line as the bowler goes full.

Holland drifts down the leg side and the ball dribbles away to fine leg for byes.

The 5th wicket pair have added 60 since the last wicket.

  13. Wessels and Moores stop the rotpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Surrey 375 v Nottinghamshire 65-5

Riki Wessels (12*) and Tom Moores (10*) both into double figures for Notts, which is more than can be said for most of their top order.

Wessels isn't yet at his swashbuckling best but the visitors are just trying to hang in there at 65-5, well adrift of the 375 posted by leaders Surrey.

  14. Kohler-Cadmore attacks for the White Rosepublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 155-5 v Somerset 399

Shot! Kohler-Cadmore unleashes an on drive off Jamie Overton for four through wide mid on and picks up four more in the same region as the bowlers goes down the leg side again.

The run rate is creeping up but Somerset have plenty of runs in the bank for now.

  15. Kohler-Cadmore escapes againpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 145-5 v Somerset 399

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is living dangerously here and picks up a four off a big edge which flies through the gully just past Lewis Gregory.

He takes a single off the next ball from Tom Abell and Andy Hodd belts his next ball through mid wicket for four.

    Nine from the over.

  16. wicket

WICKET Cox lbw Maharaj 40published at 15:13 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 117-5 (lead by 178 runs)

Keshav Maharaj has his first wicket for Lancashire, trapping wicketkeeper Ben Cox for 40.

That stand of 61 with Alex Milton is the highest of the game so far - and, with their first innings lead, also of 61, possibly a match winner for the Pears.

Worcestershire are 117-5 with a lead of 178 runs - Ed Barnard is in at seven as the Pears look to extend their lead beyond 200.

  17. Dawson back for Hampshirepublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 164-4 v Hampshire

Big appeal from the off spinner plus the keeper and two slips for lbw but the umpire turns it down.

Ryan ten Doeschate gets away from strike with a punch through the covers off the back foot.

Lawrence tries to drive down the ground and Dawson fields off his own bowling.

No stopping that one though - as the next ball is lofted over Dawson's head for four.

  18. Close call for Kohler-Cadmorepublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Yorkshire 132-5 v Somerset 399

    Tom Abell bowls...

Huge appeal for a catch behind off Kohler-Cadmore but the umpire says no.

The batsman leaves the sixth ball extravagantly.

  19. Essex rebuilding at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Essex 156-4 v Hampshire

Ryan ten Doeschate misses an attempted pull off Fidel Edwards and the bowler appeals for a catch behind. Not out.

The next ball is much straighter and the batsman pushes safely into the off side.

He gets a single off the last one with a push off the back foot into the overs.

  20. Worcestershire in pole positionpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 30 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 v Worcestershire 222 & 110-4 (lead by 171 runs)

Could this stand be a turning point in the fight to avoid relegation from Division One?

If Worcestershire go on to win from here, one more victory might be able to see them safe and this partnership between Alex Milton (26*) and Ben Cox (35*) could be vital.

Lancashire need more magic from Tom Bailey and perhaps a first wicket for spinner Keshav Maharaj.
