Derbyshire's openers survive seven overs from Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer at Hove, but the visitors face a tall order of scoring another 399 on the final day to beat promotion-chasing Sussex.

Phil Salt played one of the best innings of the summer for the home side, making 148 from only 138 balls, with five sixes and 14 fours, and shared an opening stand of 191 in only 31 overs with Luke Wells (78).

They will only need nine wickets to win, with Ravi Rampaul playing no further part after his health scare on the opening day.
