  1. wicket

WICKET Dawson b Porter 32published at 17:15 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 146-9

    Commentator's curse again!

Jamie Porter angles one in which keeps wickedly low and clips the off stump.

    Borderline unplayable, surely.

Fidel Edwards is the number 11.

    A sweet moment indeed.

    147 balls and 11 fours.

The new batsman is Craig Overton, by the way.

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 277-6 (Lead by 356)

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Lewis Gregory tries to loft David Willey over long on but he can't evade Kane Williamson.

    That's a whirlwind 57 off just 41 balls.

Abell 97 not out at the other end...

  5. 50 runs

50 for Lewis Gregorypublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 269-5 (Lead by 345)

That's his second 50 of the Championship campaign and the batsman is helping Somerset to a very steep target here.

He gets there with a mighty six (what else?) through long off. Matt Fisher is the victim. Sorry, bowler.

35 balls, six fours and three sixes.

  6. 50 runs

Bohannon passes 50 for Lancashirepublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 & 279-6 v Worcestershire 222 & 252

Josh Bohannon gets an inside edge that runs away for four... And that's his 50, from 97 balls. He's hit nine boundaries.

And his partnership alongside Dane Vilas is now up to 101 runs.

  7. dropped catch

Willey bowls to Abell, who hits the ball to Harry Brook but he can't hang on.

  8. Lancashire need 40 more to winpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 & 274-6 v Worcestershire 222 & 252

Just 40 needed to win now for Lancashire... What a partnership this is so far from Dane Vilas (96*) and Josh Bohannon (47*).

  9. 6 runs

Gregory runs riotpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 251-5 (Lead by 330)

Jack Brooks is the next victim as the batsman smashes him over his head for four.

That's gone even further as a short one is sent four rows back into the stands for another maximum.

  10. Kent in charge of game and promotion pushpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Derbyshire 23-0 & 400 v Kent 561

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Derby

Kent had a very good half hour before the tea interval.

They bowled Derbyshire out for 400, 12 runs short of the total needed to avoid the follow-on, so captain Sam Billings stuck them straight back in again.

On top of that, after Middlesex’s win at Lord's, no matter if Kent win, lose or draw, they have gained ground on Sussex in the promotion push. Win - and they overtake them.

Attritional cricket from Derbyshire openers Billy Godleman and Tom Lace has followed - they’re not giving this up easily - but it’s Kent who are in charge of this game.

  11. Somerset building huge targetpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 239-5 (Lead by 318)

Fisher drops short and that's four more for Gregory as the ball fizzes through mid-wicket.

Half appeal for lbw but there was bat involved from Gregory - so no change there.

  12. Gregory and Abell put White Rose to the swordpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 233-5 (Lead by 312)

Bit of a hold up at Headingley as Gregory signals to the dressing room. He's broken his bat.

Too much boundary hitting! From Yorkshire's point of view, anyway.

Here we go... Gregory gets a single off the 5th ball of Jack Brooks' over to take the partnership to 50 in just seven overs.

  13. Dawson digs inpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 127-8

    Simon HarmerImage source, Rex Features

    Simon Harmer bowls to Dawson...

Big appeal as the ball turns sharply and the keeper whips off the bails. Not out.

Dawson goes well forward to defend the next one and then shovels the spinner down to long on for three.

  14. Yorkshire made to toilpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 231-5 (Lead by 310)

Oh, dear. Matt Fisher drifts down leg and that's four byes. 17 extras to date.

Gregory takes his hand off the bat and gets an inside edge down to fine leg for four.

Phew, 63 runs added in the last 10 overs.

  15. Lancashire need 58 more runs to winpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 & 256-6 v Worcestershire 222 & 252

Worcestershire have now gone 23 overs without taking a wicket. They need four more wickets for victory.

Dane Vilas (85*) and Josh Bohannon (41*) are having a right go, resisting everything Worcestershire throw at them.

This is ever so close. 58 runs needed to win.

  16. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    And then there were three...

Derbyshire are 18-0 in their second innings at home to Kent and need another 143 to make the visitors bat again.

Warwickshire have taken five second-innings Glamorgan wickets at Colwyn Bay, where the hosts are 169-5 and in danger of an innings defeat. They still trail by 131.

Meanwhile at Bristol, Leicestershire are struggling on 29-3 after being set a gargantuan 494 to win after Gloucestershire declared on 402-4.

Captain Chris Dent made 214 for the hosts.

  17. Gregory on the chargepublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 21385 (Lead by 297)

Another four from Gregory, this time off Jack Brooks - with a silky drive down the ground.

    Six off the over altogether.

Matt Fisher bowls at the other end and Tom Abell defends the first three then drives firmly to cover for one.

Four more as Gregory hammers Fisher through the off side.

  18. Final session at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 117-8

Hampshire are in big trouble here at Chelmsford where we have another change of keeper - with Michael Pepper now behind the sticks.

Adam Wheater was earlier taken out of harm's way after a shoulder injury.

  19. 6 runs

Lewis Gregory does it againpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 198-5 (Lead by 277)

    Lewis GregoryImage source, Rex Features

Just as he did in the first innings, the Somerset number eight goes quickly into attack mode and wallops Jack Leaning for a maximum down the ground.

Hard hat area over here at this rate.

  20. Lancashire pair still battlingpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 & 236-6 v Worcestershire 222 & 252

Dane Vilas (75*) and Josh Bohannon (32*) have now added 59 runs and counting for Lancashire's seventh wicket and the longer they're out there, their chances of pulling off a stunning comeback victory grow...
