    Horrid start for Yorkshire.

David Willey throws the kitchen sink at a wide one from Josh Davey and edges to slip.

That's five wickets in the innings for Josh Davey - and probably his best bowling this summer.

  8. Good start for Daveypublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 292-7 v Somerset 399

A couple of balls left in the over after a wicket on the stroke of stumps last night.

Josh Davey to bowl to Yorkshire skipper David Willey.

  10. Play resumes at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 363-6 v Hampshire

Great knock from Dan Lawrence yesterday and he's back in the middle on 114.

This looks a pretty good score already on a slow, seaming surface. Maximum batting points ought to be within range for the hosts, but it won't be easy with Kyle Abbott and Ian Holland in particular causing problems with seam and bounce. A bit of turn for Liam Dawson, too.

    Kyle Abbott to bowl.

  11. Expect more runs and few wickets at Derbypublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Derbyshire 210-2 (58 overs) v Kent 561

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Derby

The term ‘road’, used to describe a batting friendly pitch, is often overused. But the wicket here at Derby has created such a run fest that it’s as if it was dug up directly from the nearby M1.

We’ve had 771 runs already in an innings and a bit of batting, witnessing just 12 wickets.

    Derby day three

This pitch hasn’t offered much for bowlers

Kent surely can’t lose this match after a mammoth first innings score, but their chances of winning could evaporate if Derbyshire continue to nudge their way to a big score themselves.

It may not be an exciting days cricket, with Kent trying to bore batsmen out and Derbyshire slowly accumulating under sunny skies, but a few quick wickets and a rip-roaring finish could be on the cards.

  12. Where things standpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    And in Division Two:

We could be in for a thriller at Lord's, where promotion rivals Middlesex entertain Sussex. The hosts are 210-5 in their second innings and lead by 208 runs. Dawid Malan is 69 not out.

Gloucestershire have fought back well at Bristol after five wickets from Mohammed Abbas limited them to 203 in their first innings. They responded by routing Leicestershire for 111 and begin day three on 152-1 second time round - a lead of 243.

Warwickshire hold the aces at Colwyn Bay where a wonderful double hundred from Ian Bell helped the hosts to 445-8 and a lead of 242 runs over Glamorgan after the hosts were bundled out for 203.

Derbyshire have a mountain to climb at home to Kent after conceding a gargantuan 561, with 106 from Joe Denly and 50s for Grant Stewart and Matt Henry down the order. Zak Crawley fell just short of a day one century - with a knock of 96. The hosts closed 351 behind on 210-2 - with Wayne Madsen unbeaten on 60.

  13. Where all the games standpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

Eight games left standing going into day three and a couple of results are certainly on the cards by stumps tonight.

    Firstly, in Division One:

Lancashire - with all 10 second-innings wickets in hand need 306 runs to beat Worcestershire at Southport. They'll need to fare much better than they did in the first innings, where Josh Tongue took 5-63 as Lancashire crashed from 81-3 to 161 all out.

Nottinghamshire are 83-2 in their second innings against Division One leaders Surrey and trail by 191 runs. Kraigg Brathwaite resumes on 39 not out.

At Headingley,Yorkshire are 107 runs behind Somerset on 292-7. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (81) and Andrew Hodd (84 not out) gave the White Rose hope of parity or an innings lead before the visitors struck back last night, taking two wickets with the new ball before the close.

Essex are 363-6 against Hampshire at Chelmsford in a game where day one was abandoned due to a wet outfield. On a wicket offering movement and a bit of low bounce Dan Lawrence put the hosts in a great position with a superb unbeaten 114.

  14. Yesterday's results recappublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Durham 129 & 133 v Northants 198 & 65-3

    Ben SandersonImage source, Rex Features

Just the one result in this round of Championship rounds so far, with Northants beating Durham by seven wickets at the Riverside with two days to spare.

It was a low-scoring game on both sides with just one batsman on either side passing 50 in the whole match. It was also a second two-day defeat for Durham this season.

  15. Weather checkpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

Today's weather will seemingly be dry and fine for most areas of the UK, clouding over in the West as the evening draws in.

We should see a full day's play...
