Play is back under way at the Oval, where Division One leaders Surrey need just two more wickets to complete a convincing victory.

  11. Warwickshire chasing victorypublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Glamorgan 203 and 41/1, Warwickshire 503

    Clive Eakin
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Sport

Glamorgan have shown some fight early in their second innings in the sunshine at Colwyn Bay but they have a very long way to go to force an unlikely draw.

Nic Selman and Connor Brown have seen off 18 overs since the dismissal of Jack Murphy, LBW to Keith Barker for 8.

The pitch doesn't appear to have much life left in it but Warwickshire can afford to be patient having lifted their first innings lead to 300. Keith Barker hit a breezy half century as Warwickshire passed 500 for the first time in over three years.

  12. Play resumes at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 44-3

The visitors are well and truly on the ropes here after losing Jimmy Adams, Ian Holland, Sam Northeast for just 19 runs between them.

Superb ball from Simon Harmer to dislodge Holland, while Peter Siddle got rid of Northeast on the stroke of lunch.

Joe Weatherley is still there on 24 - joined by his captain James Vince.

Peter Siddle to complete his over after getting Northeast out just before lunch with his second delivery.

  14. Afternoon session starts at headingleypublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 41-3

Yorkshire have hit back hard with the new ball and will harbour hopes ofv a win from behind after falling 79 runs short of the Somerset first innings total.

James Hildreth is in the middle with his captain, Tom Abell.

  15. Yorkshire strike back at Headingleypublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 41-3

    Isabelle Westbury
Former Middlesex captain on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Somerset were looking for quick wickets and they got them, although not all in the fashion they might have desired.

After polishing off the Yorkshire tail to clinch a 79-run lead, the visitors lost three wickets before lunch - including the experienced heads of Marcus Trescothick and Azhar Ali for 9 and 15 respectively.

Two wickets for stand-in captain David Willey mean that a victory for the home side is not as unlikely a prospect as it seemed at this time yesterday, but they’ll need to ensure Somerset’s lead, now at 120, does not grow too much after lunch.

  16. Riley double gives Kent hopepublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Derbyshire 308-4 (92 overs) v Kent 561

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Derby

The good ship Derbyshire seemed to be set fair for the land of high-scoring draws half an hour before lunch. That is still the most likely outcome, but the waters have got choppier.

Wayne Madsen and Alex Hughes were scoring with comfort on a sunny day on a batting friendly pitch.

But Kent captain Sam Billings turn to spinner Adam Riley - returning from exile for this game. He dismissed Madsen with a good bit of bowling four short of a century, while he was lucky when Hughes punted the ball straight to Denly at mid-wicket

Two new batsmen are now at the crease for Kent, a few quick wickets when we restart, and Kent could chart a course for victory.

  17. Close call at Lord'spublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Middlesex 169 & 232 v Sussex 171 & 41-2

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

A wicket with what turned out to be the last ball before lunch, and this match is back on a knife edge.

Phil Salt was the man to go, edging James Fuller behind, which leaves the equation of Sussex needing another 190 to win and Middlesex needing eight wickets

Victory for Sussex would effectively end any thoughts Middlesex have of promotion, whilst giving the visitors five Championship wins in a row.

it’s all making for a terrific game!

  18. Promotion hopefuls struggle at Bristolpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Gloucestershire 202 & 261-2 v Leics 111 - lead by 352

    Bob Hunt
    BBC Radio Gloucestershire

Another depressing morning for the visitors at Bristol, as Gloucestershire built up a lead of 352 with eight wickets outstanding.

Skipper Chris Dent picked up his first century of the season. He is on 118, with Benny Howell on 20. Just the one wicket to fall, James Bracey for 43, and skipper Dent will look to declare sometime this afternoon to give Leicestershire an almost impossible chance to save the game.

  19. LUNCHpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Notts 101 & 148-8 v Surrey 375

Surrey are just two wickets from victory. They're off for some grub before that though.
