Extended session here but this should be the last over...

Gone! Sam Northeast plays down the wrong line and edges Peter Siddle to a diving first slip.

That's lunch. Great session for the hosts.

  3. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 41-3

Plenty of help there with the new ball as Somerset are in danger of frittering away a handy position here at the White Rose county.

They still lead by 120 - but will need a lot more than that given how well the surface has played when the ball softens.

The in-form James Hildreth is a key wicket for both sides.

  4. Lunch at Southportpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 & 96-4 v Worcestershire 222 & 252

With Lancashire needing a further 218 runs to win, that's lunch.

Six wickets would give Worcestershire victory. They've taken four in this morning's session. They'll be pleased with their work so far today.

  5. wicket

WICKET Holland b Harmer 17published at 12:59 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 39-2

One slip in and a forward short leg for Simon Harmer - and Joe Weatherley strides forward, pushing him away to mid wicket for one.

Ian Holland is out! Beautifully-flighted ball which nicks the inside edge and rips out the middle stump.

Sam Northeast is the new man to try and stop the innings, erm, going south.

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 28-3

David Willey bowls a wide one but Marcus Trescothick doesn't quite get hold of the cut shot. No run.

Out! Willey bowls a tighter line and the opener edges to Lyth in the slips.

Yorkshire are roaring back into this.

The new batsman is James Hildreth.

  9. Hampshire on the attackpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 38-1

Three slips are still in for Porter as Ian Holland drives but can't get it through mid off.

He pushes the ball out a bit wider and the batsman leaves it alone.

The last ball drifts into the pads and Holland gets an easy single to mid wicket.

    Matt FisherImage source, Getty Images

    Got him this time!

Matt Fisher has bowled well without reward till now, but he gets his man as Azhar Ali miscues a drive and Gary Ballance takes a good catch as the ball motors through to him in the covers.

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 28-1

Azhar Ali gets a brute of a ball from David Willey that flies off a length and leaves him. Play that!

The next ball is much fuller and Ali drives down the ground for a single.

    Trescothick sees out the over.

  13. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

Plenty of drama in our Second Division matches so far today...

Middlesex have struck early at Lord's after setting promotion rivals Sussex a target of 231 to win. Luke Wells is the man out, bowled by Ethan Bamber for three. The visitors are 26-1.

Gloucestershire are building a decent lead over Leicestershire at Bristol, where they're 227-2 with captain Chris Dent on 98.

    The lead is 318 runs.

Glamorgan have lost an early wicket in their second innings against Warwickshire at Colwyn Bay - with Jack Murphy lbw to Keith Barker for 8. The hosts are 25-1 and 275 behind.

Derbyshire are now three down at home to Kent after Wayne Madsen was pinned lbw for 93 to spinner Adam Riley. They're now 289-3 and the deficit is 272.

  14. wicket

WICKET Brathwaite c Foakes b McKerr 60published at 12:26 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Notts 101 & 122-6 v Surrey 375

Surrey's Conor McKerrImage source, Getty Images

Surely nobody can deny Surrey a huge victory now? Notts' resistance is hampered by the end of Kraigg Brathwaite's spirited innings.

He's eventually caught behind, after hitting seven boundaries in 149 balls.

  15. Brooks attacks for White Rosepublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Yorkshire 320 v Somerset 399 & 18-1

Absolute snorter from Jack Brooks and Marcus Trescothick goes back and plays inside the line.

More awkward bounce on the leg stump and the opener decides against a single.

That's four. Trescothick guides Brooks off the back foot through third man.

  17. Sussex need 231 to winpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Middlesex 169 & 232 v Sussex 171

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

A ruthless, clinical performance from Sussex who have taken 5-22 this morning, and now need 231 to win their fifth County Championship match in a row.

The impressive Ollie Robinson had Dawid Malan caught behind in the second over of the day, and that opened the floodgates and Sussex steamrollered their way through, Jofra Archer finishing with 5-69.

Cloudy skies and a helpful pitch mean this won’t be an easy run chase for Sussex, but with a side that has 10 first-class centurions Sussex will fancy their chances of consolidating their place in the promotion places.

  18. wicket

WICKET Davies c Cox b Pennington 30published at 12:19 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Lancashire 161 & 63-4 v Worcestershire 222 & 252

Lancashire opener Alex Davies is gone for 30 and their hopes of a fightback look very slim indeed now.

They'll need another 251 runs to win.

  19. wicket

WICKET Adams b Cook 1published at 12:19 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 8-1

    Early wicket for Essex!

Jimmy Adams loses his off stump to Sam Cook and three slips and a gully greet Hampshire number three Ian Holland.

  20. Tense start for Hampshirepublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Essex 435 v Hampshire 3-0

Weatherley drives one back to Jamie Porter and takes evasive action as the bowler shies at the stumps.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't going to run.
