  1. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Worcestershire 74-1 v Surrey

A good morning for the Pears after the early loss of stand-in skipper Daryl Mitchell.

Tom Fell (41) and Ollie Westbury (18) have so far shared 52 for the second wicket.

On his County Championship debut, although promising so far against Surrey's all-star attack, he has a long way to go to match the 196 he made on his England Under-19s Test debut two years ago against Sri Lanka.

One of his team-mates that day was Surrey’s Ollie Pope, who was available to play this week after being left out of the England side.

  2. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Yorkshire 86-4 v Lancashire

A fightback by the Tykes at Headingley following the shock of those four early Yorkshire wickets.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore (44) and Jonny Tattersall (9) have so far put on 53 for the fifth wicket.

  3. Bright morning for the Bearspublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Leicestershire 94-8 v Warwickshire

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

A surge of four wickets in 15 minutes mid-session pushed leaders Warwickshire forward as they seek to make up for lost ground and time in last week's frustrating draw with Durham, which allowed Kent and Sussex to creep closer.

For Leicestershire's batsmen, alas, the season has begun to look a few weeks too long. Their mood will have been little improved by the damage inflicted in lengthy opening spells from Keith Barker and Chris Woakes.

Settling to his line and length more quickly, Barker drew a regulation outside edge from Harry Dearden, then hit Colin Ackermann on the knee roll right in front.

Woakes bowled Paul Horton, perhaps off an inside edge, then promptly ran out Mark Cosgrove in his follow-through as he obediently responded to an optimistic call from Neil Dexter, who himself edged to Tim Ambrose in Woakes' next over, following Bears old boy Ateeq Javid's painful decision not to play at a Barker bail-trimmer.

When the opening bowlers finally gave way, Olly Stone blew out Ned Eckersley's off stump, then persuaded Usman Arshad to drive airily to extra cover, sending the Bears off to lunch in good spirits, with Leicestershire listing heavily.

  4. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Notts 82-5 v Essex

Two wickets apiece from Jamie Porter and Matt Coles have Essex firmly on top against Nottinghamshire going into lunch.

Ben Slater (33) and Ben Duckett (21) are the only batsmen to have reached double figures, with Notts 82-5.

Tom Moores and Samit Patel will continue after the break.

    Abell c Holland b Steyn 3 (Hampshire 71-5 v Somerset )

Dale Steyn has his first wicket of the match for Hampshire and we're going to lunch early in Southampton.

After a swinging delivery Somerset skipper Tom Abell is caught in the slips by Ian Holland - who already has two wickets himself - and that's two wickets in consecutive overs.

The visitors are 71-5 at the Ageas Bowl and have some severe work to do after the break.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Hildreth c Adams b Abbott 10 (Hampshire v Somerset 71-4)

Somerset's main man James Hildreth is the next to go...

It takes another good ball from Kyle Abbott and the edge is taken well at second slip by Hampshire's James Adams.

The visitors are 71-4 in Southampton and Steve Davies is in at six to join Tom Abell, who's on three.

  7. Pears battle well against Surreypublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Worcestershire 62-1 v Surrey

A stand of 40 now for the second wicket between Tom Fell (33) and debutant Ollie Westbury (14).

It has been 18 overs now since Surrey took a wicket (six of them from Morne Morkel). That must be a rarity this season!

Just a quarter of an hour from lunch. That's a good effort.

  8. wicket

    Mullaney c Wheater b Quinn 3 (Notts 74-5 v Essex)

Essex captain Ryan ten Doeschate won't be too displeased at losing this toss!

His opposite number Steven Mullaney is caught behind by wicketkeeper Adam Wheater after getting a nick on a Matthew Quinn delivery.

Mullaney goes for just three and Notts are 74-5 with Samit Patel next in.

  9. Kohler-Cadmore finds Tykes responsepublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Yorkshire 70-4 v Lancashire

Tom Kohler-Cadmore, a centurion for Yorkshire at Trent Bridge last week, looks in good nick again.

He has already hit five boundaries to move to 30, to carry the fight back to Lancashire in the Roses Match after those four Yorkshire wickets.

Debutant Richard Gleeson has so far proved expensive, having gone for 23 off five - 12 of which came from TKC in one over.

Jonny Tattersall is on to 8 with an edged four.

An interesting stat from BBC Radio Nottingham commentator Dave Bracegirdle.

Are Notts feeling the effects of too much change to their side? Kraigg Brathwaite and Ben Duckett don't exactly lack experience with the bat...

  11. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

Wickets have been tumbling chiefly in Cardiff and Leicester this morning.

After four Glamorgan wickets went down in the space of 16 deliveries against Gloucestershire, that has now been bettered by Warwickshire against Leicestershire - with four in 10 balls! Including a run-out.

Three today for Keith Barker, two for England's Chris Woakes, who was responsible for the run-out of Mark Cosgrove.

The Foxes are on 55-6, which makes Glamorgan's 86-5 after 22 overs a triumph by comparison. Wicketkeeper Chris Cooke has led a response, bludgeoning 10 fours in his unbeaten 50.

Middlesex have not found it easy at Lord's, reaching 67-3 against Kent, for whom Darren Stevens and Matt Henry (who also claimed the run-out of Max Holden) have taken a wicket apiece.

Ben Curran, the other Curran brother, is making a name for himself with 37 not out in the 78-2 reached by Northants against Derbyshire.

No start yet made at Chester-le-Street in the Durham-Sussex game because of bad light, but they're hoping to get under way at 12:15 BST.

    Green b Holland 26 (Hampshire v Somerset 64-3)

Somerset also lose another wicket - Ben Green bowled by Ian Holland for 26.

Right-armer Holland has figures of 2-5 off six overs and Somerset are 64-3, with Tom Abell in at five for Somerset alongside James Hildreth.

Are Surrey edging even closer to the title?

    Slater b Coles 33 (Notts 67-4 v Essex)

Matt Coles has his second wicket for Essex and Notts opener Ben Slater goes for 33.

Slater bowled on his off-stump, and Notts have two new batsmen in now as Tom Moores joins Steven Mullaney in the middle.

Notts 67-4 and in a spot of bother.

Ben Duckett was racing along at Trent Bridge, with four boundaries to his name, but riding his luck at the same time.

Just after reaching a 50 partnership with Ben Slater, the new Notts signing gets a faint outside edge from a Matt Coles ball around the wicket and it goes through to Essex wicketkeeper Adam Wheater.

Captain Steven Mullaney is in with Notts 66-3.

Ballance lbw Bailey 5 (Yorks 33-4 v Lancs)

Following a maiden from Richard Gleeson, Tom Bailey strikes again, trapping Gary Ballance leg before wicket.

Three wickets now for Bailey. 52 in the Championship this season.

He's bowled unchanged for an hour and 10 minutes. 9-4-7-3. What figures!

  16. Hampshire bowling well on tough pitchpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Hampshire v Somerset 54-2

    Kevan James
BBC Radio Solent sports presenter at the Ageas Bowl

Two wickets so far for Hampshire is a pretty good return on an Ageas Bowl pitch that isn’t offering anywhere near the amount of help for the seamers that Worcester did last week.

Marcus Trescothick (13) though got a good ball from Kyle Abbott that left him and he was caught behind. Azhar Ali (12) - who looks as though he has a tendency to play around his front pad - was undone exactly that way, LBW to Holland.

  17. Red Rose in bloompublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Yorkshire 33-3 v Lancashire

Good first hour for Lancashire at Headingley as Tom Bailey and Graham Onions cause a good deal of consternation for the home side.

Two wickets for Bailey. One for Onions. And now it's the turn of Richard Gleeson for the Red Rose.

The Blackpool-born England Lions seamer comes on for his first bowl for his home county following his unexpected arrival from Northamptonshire.

  18. Postpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Hampshire v Somerset 50-2

Somerset are the first team to hit the 50 mark with the bat, but it's come at the price of two wickets in the first hour.

James Hildreth - touted for an England call-up - is yet to score, with Fidel Edwards and Ian Holland now bowling for Hampshire.

  19. Fell yet to fallpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

    Worcestershire 40-1 v Surrey

Tom Fell going well at New Road, on 22, despite the loss of opening partner Daryl Mitchell, with debutant Ollie Westbury on 5.

40-1 from the first 15 overs against the runaway Division One leaders is a decent start.

  20. Division Two round-uppublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 10 September 2018

Cook's gone... that's Stephen Cook, at Sophia Gardens. Bottom side Glamorgan are in real trouble on 42-5 against Gloucestershire, with four wickets falling in just 16 balls.

Middlesex have lost openers Sam Robson and Nick Gubbins at Lord's and are 41-2 against Kent.

Ricardo Vasconcelos has fallen for Northants, who are 42-2 against Derbyshire at Wantage Road.

Leicestershire are also two down against Warwickshire - Colin Ackermann the latest man to go, falling lbw to Keith Barker. The hosts are 42-2.

Bad light has caused a delayed start between Durham and Sussex at Chester-le-Street, but play will get under way at 11:35 BST.
