    Hampshire 28-3, target 75

Hampshire's Sam Northeast scored 53 in the first innings and is off the mark here, helping them to 28-3.

A repeat of his efforts with the bat yesterday would give Hampshire victory, but it's never quite that simple.

They need 47 more runs to win - James Adams is in with Northeast.

    Vince c J Overton b C Overton 0 (Hampshire 21-3, target 75)

James Vince gone for a third-ball duck - it's a pair for the Hampshire captain at the worst possible time!

He drives Craig Overton outside off stump but mistimes it and is caught by Jamie Overton at backward point.

Craig Overton has figures of 3-4 and Hampshire are 21-3, still needing 54 more runs to win.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Maharaj c Patterson b Coad 38 (Lancs 252 all out, Yorkshire 209)

Keshav Maharaj is last man out after some lusty hitting, holing out to Yorkshire skipper Steve Patterson to earn Ben Coad a more than deserved second wicket.

The South African was signed as a bowler but his performance here as a batsman has gained Lancashire a 43-run lead - and an extra bonus point.

Jack Brooks takes the Yorkshire bowling honours in his last Roses match with 5-66.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Weatherley c Davies b C Overton 11 (Hampshire 21-2, target 75)

We have a game on our hands.

Craig Overton beats the edge of Joe Weatherley with a beauty and with the very next ball gets him caught behind for 11.

Weatherley poked his bat at that and Hampshire are 21-2 as James Vince comes in, needing 54 more runs to win.

  6. Lancs go past 250-markpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Lancashire 252-9, Yorkshire 209

An unexpected second batting point for Lancashire at Headingley.

    How important might that be?

Some important late runs form Keshav Maharaj, who has got to 38 with the help of three sixes and three fours.

    Somerset 106 & 116, Hampshire 148 & 14-1

    Kevan James
Former Hampshire all-rounder, BBC Radio Solent

Marcus Trescothick’s 50, in which he almost carried his bat, was another example of how a good technique sees you through almost any situation.

If Somerset win this, the 42-year-old’s knock should be held up as one of the innings of the season.

Chasing 75 would normally be a walk in the park especially at the Ageas Bowl, but this is no ordinary game.

Almost every run - and certainly when the odd boundary is scored - is being cheered enthusiastically and rather nervously.

  8. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Notts 177 v Essex 202-8

Essex have their first batting point at Trent Bridge, with Simon Harmer (26*) and Matt Coles (6*) taking them to 203-8.

That's a lead of 25 runs against Notts.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Soames c Davies b C Overton 6 (Hampshire 14-1, target 75)

    Now here we go!

Craig Overton bowls the loosest ball of the innings so far but Oliver Soames tries to help it down to fine leg and only succeeds in being caught behind for six.

Good fortune for Somerset but can they now build on it? Hampshire 14-1, James Adams next in and they need 61 to win.

    Hampshire 14-0, target 75

Hampshire find the boundary for the third time of the innings, Joe Weatherley getting off the mark.

They're 14-0 and need a further 61 runs for victory against second-placed Somerset.

Leaders Surrey could win the title this week, but are struggling themselves.

    Worcs celebrateImage source, Getty Images

. . . And Parnell strikes with his third ball too,

Dean Elgar goes for a golden duck.

But England new boy Ollie Pope survives the hat-trick ball.

If Surrey get maximum batting points from this game, and if Somerset lose at Southampton, they will be county champions.

But, after a start like this, that suddenly doesn't look so likely now!

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Stoneman b Parnell 0 (Surrey 4-1 v Worcestershire)

Wayne Parnell strikes with the second ball of his first over.

Mark Stoneman goes for a fourth-ball duck.

    Hampshire 8-0, target 75

Another maiden for Somerset's Lewis Gregory, but they need wickets quick.

Joe Weatherley is yet to score but Hampshire will be content as we enter the fourth over.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Onions b Waite 3 (Lancashire 221-9, Yorkshire 209)

Graham Onions is ninth man out, so it's a third bowling point for Yorkshire.

The Roses match is now all square, four points each to date.

There was only one point between the two old northern rivals coming into this game. And, as ever, there is no quarter given in this 151-year-old fixture.

Last man Richard Gleeson comes in. It's his first bat for his home county.

  15. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Hampshire 4-0, target 75

Oliver Soames times a shot well for four and Hampshire are off the mark with the 11th ball of the innings.

They need 71 more to beat Somerset - that boundary will give Soames confidence.

No real alarms for him or Joe Weatherley yet...

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Lamb c Tattersall b Bresnan 9 (Lancashire 212-8, Yorkshire 209)

Tim Bresnan gets in on the act with his first wicket - but his 50th in Roses match history.

Danny Lamb is caught behind for 9 - and it's a third safe pouch today in the gloves of wicketkeeper Jonny Tattersall.

  17. Lancashire lead in Roses matchpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Lancashire 212-7, Yorkshire 209

Day two hasn't gone quite to plan for Lancashire, from the moment they lost overnight opening batsman Karl Brown to the very first ball of the day, but they are at last ahead - although not by much.

  18. Hampshire begin run-chasepublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Hampshire 0-0, target 75

Lewis Gregory opens the bowling for Somerset as Hampshire get their run-chase under way.

They need 75 to win and have Joe Weatherley and Oliver Soames at the crease.

Could we possibly have another County Championship tie?!

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Ten Doeschate lbw Mullaney 32 (Notts 177 v Essex 174-8)

It looks a very even game at Trent Bridge as Essex's first innings heads towards its end.

Ryan ten Doeschate is Essex's first leg before victim of the innings, trapped by Steven Mullaney for 32.

It's his fourth wicket and Notts have the visitors 174-8 as Matt Coles joins Simon Harmer.

    Parnell c Clarke b Virdi 42 (Worcestershire 336 all out v Surrey)

Wayne Parnell is last man out at New Road, falling to spinner Amar Virdi, caught at slip by the invariably safe, big hands of Rikki Clarke.

Useful runs again from the South African after his 50 up at Southport against Lancashire.
