WICKETpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Trescothick b Steyn 50 (Somerset 116 - lead by 74 runs)

But that's the end of Marcus Trescothick and Somerset's second innings.

Two balls after hooking Dale Steyn for six, Trescothick falls to the South African with an inside edge onto his stumps.

Trescothick out for 50, Somerset 116 all out and Hampshire need 75 runs to win in Southampton - it'll be tougher than it sounds.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Marcus Trescothickpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Hampshire 148 v Somerset 106 & 116-9

Marcus Trescothick smashes a six to bring up an otherwise very patient 50!

Hampshire bowler Dale Steyn is his victim - with the half-century taking 123 balls.

  3. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Hampshire 148 v Somerset 106 & 108-9

Josh Davey yet to score for Somerset but by hanging around he's allowing opener Marcus Trescothick to creep towards an unlikely 50.

He's on 42 and Somerset's lead is now 66 runs - with overcast conditions, wind and lights on, a lead of around 80+ could worry Hampshire a tad.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Bailey c Tattersall b Waite 16 (Lancashire 198-7 v Yorkshire)

A good ball by Matthew Waite accounts for Tom Bailey, who is caught behind for 16 to a thin edge.

It ends a useful stand of 23 with Danny Lamb - but Lancs are still two runs from a first batting bonus point - and still 11 runs behind Yorkshire.

  5. Pears press onpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Worcestershire 332-9 v Surrey

Surrey are still being held up at New Road as Worcestershire's last-wicket pair Wayne Parnell and Dillon Pennington remain unparted.

Parnell has now moved on to 40.

WICKETpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Wheater c Moores b Mullaney 14 (Notts 177 v Essex 163-7)

Steven Mullaney gets the ball to swing and gets the long overdue wicket of Adam Wheater.

The Essex batsman looked out-of-sorts for his 14 and is caught behind.

The defending champions are 163-7 as Simon Harmer comes in, trailing Notts by 14 runs.

    Hampshire 148 v Somerset 106 & 102-9

That flurry of runs has taken Marcus Trescothick to 26,000 first-class runs.

But in all those 662 innings the 42-year-old has never carried his bat. Could now be the time?

  8. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Hampshire 148 v Somerset 106 & 102-9

Liam Dawson drops Josh Davey at midwicket - it was that easy a catch that his Hampshire team-mates were already celebrating.

Somerset will hope to use that to frustrate their hosts and extend their measly 60-run lead.

  9. Postpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Hampshire 148 v Somerset 106 & 102-9

Somerset opener Marcus Trescothick is still in and hits a four and six in consecutive balls.

Can the veteran batsman carry his bat? He's up to 36 and Somerset's lead is 60 in Southampton.

  10. Division Two round-uppublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Play is finally due to get underway at Grace Road in the Leicestershire-Warwickshire game.

A 2pm start for the Division Two leaders after a lost morning due to rain.

As for their promotion rivals, second-placed Kent now have Middlesex six down in their second innings at Lord's. The hosts have reached 117-6, a lead of 86 runs with four wickets remaining.

As for third-placed Sussex, they have been bowled out for 122 by Durham at Chester-le-Street. A first-innings lead of only 19.

13 wickets so far in the day there. Chris Rushworth has taken the majority of them. His figures of 8-51 are his best since his 9-52 four years ago - when he took 15 wickets in the match against Northants, also at Chester-le-Street, in 2014.

They are also now playing after a delayed start at Sophia Gardens, where Gloucestershire have edged into the lead on 143-6, replying to the 137 made by Glamorgan.

But it is now raining at Wantage Road, where Derbyshire have been halted on 118-4 against Northamptonshire. Alex Hughes is still there on 74.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Leach b Steyn 5 (Somerset 91-9, lead by 49 runs)

Somerset are nine down and Dale Steyn has his third wicket.

Jack Leach can't get his bat down in time and gets an inside edge onto his middle stump. Gone for five.

The visitors are 91-9 - with a lead of just 49 - and Josh Davey is the last man in.

  12. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Notts 177 v Essex 140-6

Ryan ten Doeschate gets an inside edge from Steve Mullaney but fortunately for him it goes for four.

He was pretty close to chopping on to his own stumps there.

The Essex skipper is up to 17.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Bohannon lbw Brooks 10 (Lancashire 175-6, Yorkshire 209)

Josh Bohannon is the sixth wicket to go down at Headingley. A third LBW decision of the day for Jack Brooks, who now has five of those wickets.

The Red Rose still trail by 34 on first innings. Not looking so good for the visitors now.

It's the 18th 'five for' of Somerset-bound Brooks' first-class career - and his second in three matches, having also got one a fortnight ago at Taunton, where the Headband Warrior will be playing his cricket next season.

  14. rain stops play

Rain updatepublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

It's been a stop-start day but we now have play in all but two of our nine matches.

Play is due to start between Leicestershire and Warwickshire at 14:00 BST but there's no start time at Wantage Road, where Northants and Derbyshire are off for rain.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Tongue c Virdi b T Curran 5 (Worcs 323-9 v Surrey)

A third wicket goes down after the late start at New Road - for the addition of only 35 runs so far.

Josh Tongue did manage one boundary in the seven balls he faced before becoming a fourth victim for Tom Curran.

More importantly, coming in the 107th over, just before the 110-over cut-off, it's a third bowling point for Surrey.

They are now, assuming Somerset lose to Hampshire, just five batting bonus points away from the title.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Porter lbw Fletcher (Notts 177 v Essex 134-6)

Essex nightwatchman Jamie Porter falls to the third ball of the day, LBW to Luke Fletcher for eight.

It brings up a second bowling point for Notts and the visitors are 134-6, 43 runs behind Notts' first-innings total.

Adam Wheater in next alongside Ryan ten Doeschate.

Davies lbw Brooks 87 (Lancashire 166-5, Yorkshire 209)

Alex Davies goes for 87, 13 short of what would have been a deserved century, adjudged leg before wicket.

A fourth wicket by Jack Brooks. Lancashire still 43 behind - but with only five wickets in hand now.

  19. Near miss for Rushworthpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    Durham 103 v Sussex 107-8

Chris Rushworth's hat-trick ball is safely defended by Sussex's Ollie Robinson.

He still has seven wickets in the innings, though.

Sussex have passed Durham's first-innings total of 103.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    J Overton c Dawson b Steyn 5 (Somerset 83-8, lead by 41 runs)

It feels like the end isn't very far away...

Jamie Overton drives and is caught by Liam Dawson at point from the bowling of Dale Steyn

He goes for five, Somerset 83-8 and just 41 runs ahead of Hampshire as Jack Leach joins Marcus Trescothick.
