Sussex just can't find a way past Jonathan Trott who marches on to his 7th Championship of the season off 112 balls with five fours.

He has one century in this campaign to date.

  2. Yorkshire rebuild at Headingleypublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 120-6 v Hants

Kyle Abbott is turned away on the on side by Bresnan for one and Waite gets a single off the last ball to keep the strike.

Ian Holland had only taken nine wickets in five matches before today - but he's had vital scalps in Lyth and Tattersall this afternoon.

Waite plays and misses him outside off stump. Shot! Waite punches Holland through the covers for four to move on to 11.

    Sussex v Warwks 219-2

WICKET Vijay (b Tongue 85)published at 15:40 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Worcestershire 94 v Essex 138-2 - tea

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

After skittling the visitors with Jamie Porter’s 7-41, we’ve seen the classy Murali Vijay continue his milking of county attacks.

Following his half-century and century against Nottinghamshire last week, the India Test opener cut and drove his way to a chanceless 85 before being bowled off an inside edge, much to the surprise of everyone in the ground. His late season signing has been a piece of real smart business from Essex.

Tom Westley’s had a disappointing season by his standards but has backed-up last week’s hundred against Notts with an unbeaten 46 to show his return to form.

Worcestershire might well start planning for Division Two unless they can make some serious inroads.

  5. Catches win matchespublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Leicestershire 216-5 v Durham - tea

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Durham have put down a couple of chances this afternoon which have been to the benefit of the Leicestershire batsmen, not least Neil Dexter, who was dropped first ball at third slip by Michael Richardson.

Matt Salisbury was the unlucky bowler who had seen off Mark Cosgrove, bowled for 38, the ball before. I am not sure how Cosgrove got so many on the board as he struggled to time the ball and could have gone at any point.

As for Dexter, he eventually went for 43, lbw to Gareth Harte, but that was after he and Harry Dearden put on 77 for the fifth wicket - with Dearden was dropped on 10 off Mark Wood by Paul Collingwood at first slip.

  6. Final Session begins at Hovepublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 213-2

Can anyone in the Sussex ranks break this partnership?

13 overs left till the new ball but they'll hope to strike well before that.

Nobody has seriously troubled Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott so far as the senior pair look to add more runs to their partnership, which now stands at 111.

Cue for the superstitious among us to stand on one leg.

    No? OK, me neither.

David Wiese to bowl to Ian Bell.

  7. Evening session underway at Headingleypublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 110-6 v Hants

The pressure is on for Tim Bresnan as he tries to steer the White Rose to a valuable batting point in this game.

Matthew Waite will join him at the crease with four balls left in the 36th over after Tattersall's dismissal just before tea.

Hampshire will be very pleased to have pegged Yorkshire back after the hosts were a promising 70-2 this afternoon.

  8. Surrey lose Roypublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Surrey 263-3 - tea

Disappointment for Jason Roy, who is lbw to Jamie Overton in the final over before tea at Taunton.

He hit two sixes and seven fours as he marked his first Championship innings of the season with an impressive 63 off 89 balls.

Dean Elgar is 23 not out and is likely to be joined by England's Ollie Pope after the interval.

Middlesex opener Sam Robson has his first Championship hundred in what has been, by his normal standards, a disappointing season.

He reached it from 180 balls with a single off Alex Hughes from the penultimate delivery before tea.

Robson has so far put on 53 with Max Holden (28 not out) after Dawid Malan fell to Hardus Viljoen for 16.

  11. Bears duo provide 'masterclass'published at 15:25 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Warwickshire 213-2 v Sussex - tea

A masterclass in the afternoon session with Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell adding 111 in 34 overs

Both look completely untroubled, and on a good pitch Warwickshire, even at this early stage, will have their eyes on maximum batting points

Sussex have toiled away, with Jofra Archer bowling a particularly quick spell after lunch, and the over rate has been such that only 30 overs remain to be bowled in the day at tea.

    Yorkshire 110-6 v Hampshire - tea

    Kevan James
    Sport Presenter, BBC Radio Solent

Hampshire have now picked up two bonus points which means with Worcestershire having been bowled out cheaply, they need just another four points to be mathematically sure of Division One cricket next season.

In truth, they are there already and their bowling at times here has seemed to reflect it; they have bowled better in the last couple of games.

For their part, Yorkshire need another 13 points to be mathematically safe, having started the day needing 18.

WICKET Bull (b Stewart) 5published at 15:19 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Glamorgan 165-7 v Kent

Kieran Bull battled away for over half an hour in support of Jack Murphy (67 not out), but he is cleaned up by a fine delivery from Grant Stewart, which swings away slightly and hits off stump. The Kent seamer now has 3-27 from 13 overs and they are two wickets away from maximum bowling points.

  14. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 213-2

Just a run and a couple of leg byes from Luke Wells just before the break.

Warwickshire are looking impregnable at the moment with Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott at the crease.

The pressure is on for Sussex - who need to dislodge this pair sharpish to maintain their slim hopes of promotion.

  15. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 110-6 v Hants

And that Tattersall dismissal takes us to tea with four balls left in the 36th over.

Yorkshire are in all sorts of trouble against Hampshire here and remain in danger of relegation, albeit with a slight advantage of 14 points over Lancashire, who are 7th in the table on 112 points after 13 games.

Hampshire are nearly out of the woods with just four points needed to stay in the top flight.

  16. wicket

WICKET Tattersall (b Holland) 19published at 15:11 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 110-6 v Hants

    Another wicket for Hampshire!

Heartbreak for Jonny Tattersall who's battled hard and is removed by a beauty from Ian Holland which hits the top of the off peg.

  17. 50 runs

for Jason Roypublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Surrey 238-2 v Somerset

    Flippin' easy this red-ball lark.

We're sure that expression hasn't passed through Jason Roy's brain, but he certainly hasn't looked in a lot of trouble in reaching 50 from 75 balls in his first Championship knock of the season.

A single off Jamie Overton carried him to his half-century, just a few minutes after he produced a bit of his white-ball style for a slog-sweep six off Jack Leach.

  18. Sussex held back by Bell and Trottpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 210-2

David Wiese continues from the Cromwell Road End.

Bell and Trott take a single each off the first two balls. Trott tries to glance a leg side ball of keep the strike but can't connect.

One more over before the break and Sussex no doubt will be glad of a bit of respite.

The partnership between the Warwickshire stalwarts is 108 and counting.

  19. White Rose tested by Hampshirepublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 109-5 v Hants

Kyle Abbott bowls back of a length and the ball thuds into Tattersall's thigh pad as the batsman tries to evade.

    Yorkshire are hanging on here.

Ian Holland replaces Edwards at the other end and Bresnan defends. He plays and misses at the fifth ball and blocks the sixth.

The partnership is worth a very precious 37.

Vijay reaches half-centurypublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Worcestershire 94 v Essex 85-1

    Murali VijayImage source, Rex Features

Dillon Pennington is bowling a really good spell for Worcestershire, with just six runs conceded from his first five overs. They haven't managed a second breakthrough, though, and Murali Vijay moves on to 50 not out with a glorious lofted off-drive for six from spinner Ben Twohig's second delivery followed by a four and then a single. It has taken him 78 balls. Tom Westley has 29 at the other end.
