He nudges the next one through the on side for one - and that's Warwickshire's first batting point.

Meanwhile, the sun makes its first appearance of the day at Hove - but it's not shining on the hosts this afternoon.

    Yorks 100-5 v Hants

Tattersall is on the drive against Edwards but can't get the ball away.

Big partnership needed by him and Bresnan here.

WICKET Smith (c Henry b Stevens) 19published at 14:47 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Glamorgan 152-7 v Kent

Kent continue to work their way through Glamorgan's batting line-up as Matt Henry takes a running catch from mid-off to end Ruaidhri Smith's innings. The batsman played too early at the ball from Darren Stevens and simply lobbed the ball up in the air over the bowler's head from the leading edge.

As we've said several times already, Jack Murphy is still there - he's on 61 not out.

  5. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

Away from Hove and Canterbury, here's the latest in Division Two:

Northamptonshire's Brett Hutton has taken his fourth wicket against Gloucestershire, with Ryan Higgins caught behind for 10, but they remain off for bad light at Bristol with the home side 72-8.

Middlesex have lost a third wicket against Derbyshire with Dawid Malan caught by Luis Reece off the bowling of Hardus Viljoen for 16.

Sam Robson is still there on 85 not out as the home side have reached 179-3.

Durham made a double breakthrough against Leicestershire, who slipped to 139-4, with Ateeq Javid lbw to Chris Rushworth for 58 and Mark Cosgrove bowled by Matt Salisbury for four.

Harry Dearden (23) and Neil Dextter (16) have taken the score to 177-4.

50 for Ian Bellpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 188-2

He's still got it, you know!

The batsman surges past 900 Championships runs on the way to his seventh score of 50 or more in the format for Warwickshire.

Bell drives Jordan into the off side for one to reach the landmark off 110 balls with four fours and one six.

He's hit four centuries in this campaign to date - and don't rule out a fifth in this game.

  7. wicket

WICKET Burns (b Groenewald) 78published at 14:39 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Surrey 206-2 v Somerset

A fifth Championship century of the summer eludes Rory Burns as he tries to drive a ball from Tim Groenewald delivered from round the wicket and is bowled through the gate. It wasn't the greatest of strokes and Burns reprimands himself by hitting his bat against his pad before walking off.

Jason Roy is 31 not out as he is joined by South Africa's Dean Elgar. Quite a handy replacement for his captain.

  8. Yorkshire five downpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 83-5 v Hants

Tim Bresnan gets off the mark by turning Ian Holland to the on side.

The White Rose are really under the pump here.

Tattersall gets a couple more on to the on side. He's hit on the pad by one that nips back but it's too high for lbw.

  9. Surrey total passes 200published at 14:33 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Surrey 202-1 v Somerset

Champions Surrey have their first batting point at Taunton as Rory Burns and Jason Roy each collect a boundary in the latest over from Jack Leach, the sole front-line spinner in the Somerset side for this game with Dom Bess not in the XI.

Burns is now 77 not out and Roy - in his first Championship innings of the summer - has 28.

  10. Trial by spinpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 170-2

Time for leg-spinner Luke Wells to have a bowl and he gets off to a great start as Bell plays and misses outside the off stump to the first ball. When was the last time he did that?

Bell gets a single off the third and Trott gives the strike back to him after Wells drops a bit short.

Just the two from the over.

    Gloucestershire 72-8 v Northamptonshire

They are back out at the Brightside Ground after a brief hold-up for bad light. Craig Miles and David Payne are the not out batsmen, but it's Northants who are well on top at the moment.

  12. wicket

WICKET Lyth c Dawson b Holland 23published at 14:23 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 72-5 v Hants

    Absolute disaster for Yorkshire!

Adam Lyth stares ruefully at the tail end of his bat as he reaches for the drive edges Ian Holland to Liam Dawson in the gully.

Time for Tim Bresnan to have a bat.

    Sussex v Warwks 164-2

Bell and Trott continue to look comfortable without quite hitting top gear at Hove.

That's more than enough for Warwickshire - who go up to Division One if they avoid defeat here.

Trott takes the partnership past 50 with a drive through the covers for one.

  15. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

Away from Hove and Canterbury, here's what is going on:

Northamptonshire's Brett Hutton has just taken his fourth wicket against Gloucestershire, with Ryan Higgins caught behind for 10, but they have gone off for bad light at Bristol with the home side 72-8.

    WICKET Kohler-Cadmore (b Berg) 2published at 14:12 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 72-4 v Hants

    Gareth BergImage source, Rex

Well, Hampshire could bag another couple of bowling points quickly here at Headingley.

It's a short stay (four balls) from Tom Kohler-Cadmore who gets an inside edge off Gareth Berg and plays on to his stumps.

The new batsman is Jonathan Tattersall.

  17. Archer digs inpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 156-2

Jofra Archer is really steaming in here, but Ian Bell is equal to the task so far as he's up on his toes to defend.

A lovely leg glance from Bell off the next ball gets him a single.

Trott tries to nudge another leg side ball but can't connect.

Ben Brown has to make a diving stop after a wild throw in the field. Frustrating times for Sussex.

for Jack Murphypublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Glamorgan 135-6 v Kent

Jack MurphyImage source, Huw Evans Picture Agency

Well batted Jack Murphy, who has held this Glamorgan innings together against Kent and reaches only his second Championship fifty of the summer with a boundary off Matt Henry.

The Kent paceman pays the price for straying onto leg stump as the ball is helped on its way to fine leg. It's taken Murphy 111 balls and that's the ninth four of the left-hander's innings.

  19. wicket

WICKET Ballance (lbw b Berg) 30published at 14:04 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Yorks 70-3 v Hants

Adam Lyth pushes Gareth Berg into the off side for one to move on to 23.

And he's gone! A fluent Gary Ballance innings is ended by Berg who pins him plumb in front.

Hampshire pick up their first bowling point.

  20. Briggs returnspublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 149-2

Danny Briggs is back in the attack after a break of one over.

A shorter, quicker ball and Bell stabs it down into the off side.

Bell pushes one out square for a single and Trott leaves the last ball alone.

The overs are ticking by sharply here - and we're actually ahead of the required rate. A rarity indeed.
