Jonathan Trott: Warwickshire batsman reaches century in penultimate game before retirement

Trott hits Archer for four through square leg and that's his third first-class century of the season, coming in 202 balls with 13 fours.

He gets a round of applause from the Sussex faithful.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Adam Wheaterpublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Worcestershire 94 v Essex 271-5

Still no joy for Worcestershire at Essex.

Adam Wheater brings up his 50 from 70 balls as Essex's lead has grown to 179.

  3. Hampshire pinned down at Headingleypublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 81-5

It's really windy here and the covers are flapping about vigorously just outside of the boundary.

Kyle Abbott is well forward and content to leave the ball outside the off.

Maiden. Where are the runs going to come from?

  4. Archer steaming inpublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 320-2

Bell is up on his toes, pushing speedster Jofra Archer into the off side - no run.

Archer drops short and Bell pulls the ball away for a couple to go to 111.

This 220-run stand (and counting) is a record partnership for the third wicket for the Bears against Sussex - beating the 2012 record set by Varun Chopra and Jonathan Trott.

Bell is beaten outside the off stump and the batsman gives the bowler a respectful nod.

It's looking really gloomy at Hove now. Fingers crossed the rain stays away.

  5. Foxes all out for 321published at 10:46 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Division Two round-up

Our attention may be firmly fixed on the games at Canterbury and Hove in Division Two, but we'll still let you know all the big moments from the games elsewhere.

Leicestershire have lost their final two first-innings wickets, all out for 321 against visitors Durham.

And Middlesex's Max Holden is at risk of being left stranded just shy of his century. Holden is 98 not out, but his side have lost their ninth wicket against Derbyshire.

The players are off now at Lord's as the rain has started falling, leaving Holden facing a rather anxious wait.

  6. White Rose hunt for wicketspublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 80-5

Very autumnal day here at a grey and windy Headingley.

Just the one run from Jack Brooks and a maiden first up from Ben Coad.

He bowls around the wicket to Tom Alsop, who is watchful and well forward in defense.

    Another maiden.

  7. Postpublished at 10:41 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Glamorgan 186 v Kent 97-2

Not much to get the crowd woken up at Canterbury so far this morning.

Kent have added just four runs to their overnight total, with Zak Crawley still going strong on 58 and Harry Podmore yet to score from 14 deliveries.

  8. Bell and Trott resume at Hovepublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 313-2

    Maiden from Ollie Robinson.

Ooh! Archer finds the edge of Trott's bat but the ball bounces just short of Chris Jordan first slip.

It's gone through his legs and over the rope for four. So frustrating.

  9. Walker praises 'perfect role model' Tredwellpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

Kent spinner James Tredwell announced his retirement on Monday after an 18-year professional career. His head coach has been talking about his impact with the county.

Head coach Matt Walker told BBC Radio Kent:

"The great thing about Treddy is he's made the most of every opportunity that was given to him.

"He's worked extremely hard to have the career he's had, he's taken every season as it's come, never looked too far down the line.

"He's your Mr Reliable, solid professional cricketer that you trust day in day out - you know he's going to give everything he can to the cause.

"If any young player has question marks on how to go about it, then they need to look at James Tredwell because he's been the perfect role model since he's been at Kent.

  10. Postpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Worcestershire 94 v Essex 256-5

No drama so far for Essex at Chelmsford.

Adam Wheater and Ravi Bopara's partnership is worth 55 runs, taking the hosts to a 162-run lead.

It's hard to see any way back for Worcestershire from here.

  11. Play resumes at Leedspublished at 10:33 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Yorks 184 v Hants 79-5

It's been a low-scoring game so far - with only Gary Ballance managing 30.

Tom Alsop resumes the rearguard with Kyle Abbott.

Ben Coad, who received his county cap yesterday, will bowl the first over of day two.

  12. Day two begins at Hovepublished at 10:33 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Sussex v Warwks 308-2

Sussex still have a slim chance of promotion but they need to break the Bell-Trott partnership ASAP to stop it from fading to vanishing point.

Ollie Robinson to bowl first up.

Jonathan Trott is 14 runs short of a century in his last away game at this level before he retires. Ian Bell is already on three figures - and here are a few highlights of his knock so far below...

  13. Here we go...published at 10:32 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

There's plenty to keep us interested in a low-scoring game between Yorkshire and Hampshire at Leeds, while the Surrey juggernaut marches on against Somerset at Taunton. Essex are in a strong position against the Pears at Chelmsford after Jamie Porter helped to rout them for 94.

In the second division Sussex are under pressure to break up a 200-plus run partnership between Warwickshire's Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott at Hove, while Max Holden is within touching distance of a century for Middlesex against Derbyshire at Lord's.

Leicestershire resume on 316-8 against Durham at Grace Road and at Bristol Northants are 4-1 but only 121 behind Gloucestershire, who were shot out for 125. Kent are 93-2 against Glamorgan after bowling the visitors out for 186.
