Up next on The Cricket Social is a show from Simon Hughes looking at how cricket helped Sri Lanka recover from the tsunami that hit the area in 2004.

Just heard on The Cricket Social, "a woman came up to me in a bar and said 'you look like a fat Darren Gough.'"

It was Jimmy Anderson with that story if you're not listening...

Looking at our team, what Alastair Cook and Eoin Morgan took from Brendon McCullum was all about being entertaining and showing off our skills. He didn’t want his team to engage in verbals or anything, but play with a smile on its face. They both took from his way and try to implicate it into their captaincy.

Well that does not look promising. The rain comes down pretty fast in Sri Lanka it seems.

Reflecting on Nathan Lyon saying he wanted to "end a few careers" before the Ashes in 2017...

We thought it was out of character, we have got to know them a little bit and we knew a lot of them were not like that. Even the story with Jonny Bairstow and Cameron Bancroft, they wanted it to get into the papers because it was the Ashes. Even Steve Smith is a really good bloke, there is no real malice with him so it was really out of character.

Some of them are really nice guys, Tim Paine is a genuinely nice guy. Even Mitchell Starc, a fast bowler, is not naturally aggressive, he’s a nice chap. They have tried too hard to be that stereotypical Australian team that want to be aggressive. But you can only try to be good blokes if you really are good blokes.

And if there is no more play, as Simon Mann suggests, England will win and will go 1-0 up in this five-match series with three matches to play.

The rain is hammering down. It looks like the end of the world. I would be amazed if we get more play.

This is the sort of rain that gets through coats, jumpers, t-shirts and leaves the used train tickets in your wallet congealed as a horrible cardboard mush.

To be honest I am surprised we got this much play in today.

England have been pretty good. They started well with the bat through Eoin Morgan and Joe Root before a little bit of a falter late on.

They have then been excellent with the ball however. Sri Lanka are 140-5.

Chris Woakes has taken three wickets. Olly Stone bowled aggressively and quickly and took his first international wicket.

The DLS score after 29 overs is 171. Sri Lanka are 31 runs behind that.

The groundstaff are running on with those massive blue sheets to try and cover the entire ground. This is proper rain now.

If we don't get any more play then England win on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

That's it. The umpires aren't keeping the players out any longer. It is raining and the wind is really getting up.

    A storm is starting.

Jonny Bairstow is having a word with the groundstaff on the boundary. He's flinching and signalling that there might be lightning around. If that's the case then the players will be off soon. Thisara still wants to attack but he can't get Moeen Ali away.

The weather's coming... Flags are dancing on top of the old scoreboard, the floodlights have taken over and the players are nervously looking over the pavilion. It won't be long, you sense.

That dark cloud is still looming large. A much better over from Adil Rashid keeps Sri Lanka well behind the DLS par score.
