    Dickwella c Root b Moeen 95 (SL 168-2)

Just thank me later. Moeen Ali gets Sri Lanka's dangerman. It's the spin twins again for England.

Niroshan Dickwella, with his century just one whack away, goes for a big shot but slices the ball to Joe Root at short third man for a simple catch.

I'm perhaps being a little harsh on England's stand-in captain Jos Buttler there but Sri Lanka are still flying.

Adil Rashid is the only England bowler going at less than a run a ball.

Thanks Jack. Well this hasn't gone to plan for England.

With Morgan now on the field it feels like when the teacher has to come back early from their meeting to regain order after the supply teacher has lost control of the class.

Sri Lanka are playing easily their best cricket of the series.

What can the hosts post today?

To find out, here is Matt Henry...

  5. Sl 166-1published at 25 overs

    Dickwella 94, Chandimal 7

It doesn't take much to get Ben Stokes fired up of course.

The Durham all-rounder sends down five excellent dot balls, working Niroshan Dickwella over as the opener suddenly looks tired and nervy.

A diving stop from Eoin Morgan to finish but he can't prevent the single. A fine start to his spell by Stokes.

Eoin Morgan is on the field in place of Moeen Ali. Will he be handing out a few rollickings?

"I leave you alone for one game lads and this happens!"

  7. SL 165-1published at 24 overs

Moeen Ali stomps off the field at the end of his over.

It's been pretty cruddy cricket from most of this England team today.

Here is Ben Stokes to try and make something happen...

    That's an absolute sitter.

  9. dropped catch

Chandimal dropped on sixpublished at 23.4 overs

    Poor cricket all round.

Dinesh Chandimal needlessly tries to loft it over long-on but skies the ball straight up.

Tom Curran runs in but makes a hash of it, looking up the wrong line as his hands go outwards and dropping a dolly.

He can't have been looking at the ball properly.

  10. SL 163-1published at 23.3 overs

Big appeal for lbw next up but Dickwella got some bat on it before the ball deflected off the pads and away for one.

  11. SL 162-1published at 23.2 overs

Dickwella moves into the 90s by skipping down the pitch to clip Moeen down the ground and past mid-on for four.

England team/squad for World Cup. There's no question, surely - 1 Roy, 2 Bairstow, 3 Root, 4 Morgan, 5 Buttler, 6 Stokes (5+6 interchangeable), 7 Moeen, 8 Woakes, 9 S Curran, 10 Rashid, 11 Plunkett. Hales, Stone, Wood, Willey on the proverbial bench. Questions, queries and amendments encouraged.

  13. SL 158-1published at 23 overs

    Dickwella 87, Chandimal 6

Sickener for Adil Rashid as his googly deceives Dickwella but flies past both his bat and Jos Buttler for four byes.

Guh, a low roller then flicks off the bottom edge of Dickwella's bat and through Buttler for two.

The left-hander then gets into a reverse sweep position very early, Rashid sends it down very slowly and Dickwella has to wait before slapping it round the corner for one.

  14. Not outpublished at 22.1 overs

Pitching and impact in line. But spinning past leg.

The decision is overturned and Dickwella continues.

No sign or sound of any bat.

    But they'll check lbw too...

I don't think he has hit it.

And straight after that back massage, Niroshan Dickwella could be out.

Adil Rashid gets one to loop straight up off the pad and Jos Buttler takes the catch. Was there a bat-pad though?

England appeal and it's given! Though Dickwella sends it straight upstairs...

Dickwella is now lying face down by the side of the pitch and having a bit of physio on his back.

More drinks for umpires and players alike. It's scorching in Colombo.

  19. SL 151-1published at 22 overs

Niroshan Dickwella taps Moeen Ali into a big gap at mid-wicket and scurries two. Good running but the opener is absolutely blowing afterwards and needs a moment to recover.

Moeen restricts Sri Lanka to five from the over, England slightly checking the hosts' progress in the last few overs - though they have plenty of wickets left in hand after a fine start.

  20. SL 146-1published at 21 overs

Top over from Adil Rashid, conceding just three singles from it.

Can England's spin twins apply the squeeze now?
