Surely the biggest sliding doors moment from that Edgbaston Test in 2005 was Kasprowicz being given out, even though his hand was off the bat. Huge moment.

Jack Leach is in the new man - and he just edges his first ball past the two men at slip!

Soft hands from Leach ensured that ball dropped just short of the diving fielder. Dilruwan responds by ripping his next ball past Leach's outside edge.

    Plumb.

That's very out. Adil Rashid was almost sat on his stumps as Dilruwan Perera spun one into his pads. It straightened enough to whack into Rashid's knee, and the leggie is on his way after an entertaining innings.

Adil Rashid had shuffled deep into his crease.

It's hit him on the back leg, on the knee. I thought he'd hit it at first but no...

    Hello!

Adil Rashid has been given out lbw to Dilruwan Perera, but he's reviewed it.

Time for some post-tea cricket, with about 30 overs left in the day.

It'll be Malinda Pushpakumara to get us restarted.

That's the cricket equivalent of being dumped over the phone, surely?

If you've ever been dropped in a worse way - for example, your club captain wrote you a lengthy email outlining all your faults - then let us know.

Mitch Starc has been released by his IPL franchise, the Kolkata Knight Riders - and they told him via text.

Starc missed the 2018 season with a leg injury, and says he plans to stay at home before a busy World Cup and Ashes summer during this year's IPL.

Joe Root is writing to all fans affected by the hotel move, and they’ll have a chance to have a photo with the team tomorrow, but Phillip wants more.

“It was the right thing to do to keep this match here, but I think the ECB should offer us some tickets for a game at Lord’s next summer in recognition of what’s happened.”

The issue has also had knock on effects with some people relocated because tour parties needed to rehouse their clients.

Nikki found out her hotel was being changed at the last moment.

“We found out after a seven hour train journey last night that we’d been moved when I tried to check in last night. We were devastated. We could be staying in a different hotel every night. Galle was amazing, but to be honest this has really tarnished a brilliant trip. I would urge the ECB not to come to Kandy again as there aren’t enough facilities. In fact the tour has been a bit of a shambles”

    Radio 5 live in Pallekele

I managed to track down some supporters who have had to be rehoused because of the overbooking issue at the team hotel in Kandy.

The Test nearly had to be moved because of it.

Philip told me that he’s part of a group moved from the Earls Regency.

“We’ve been put in a hotel over two hours away in the middle of nowhere. We’ve been given a police escort to get to the ground, but we still have to get up at six to make start of play.

"Some of our group are already saying they won’t bother to come to the cricket every day”

We heard that the Sri Lanka board were offering various forms of compensation, but Phillip isn’t impressed.

“Half a bottle of wine and three bananas, that’s our compensation.”

  16. Mullaney's Sliding Doors momentpublished at 09:25 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2018

    Steven Mullaney
Nottinghamshire captain on The Cricket Social

In 2010, Nottinghamshire played a one-day game at the Ageas Bowl against Hampshire and there was a four day game straight after. Andre Adams was practising pull shots in the net and twisted his knee. Mick Newell, the coach at the time, told me I would play as the fourth seamer and bat at eight. I ended up getting 100 not out in the first innings, and that's probably when they realised I could bat a little.

    Cheers, Jack.

A reminder that we're asking for your Sliding Doors moments in cricket - Glenn McGrath treading on that ball in the 2005 Ashes, for example.

Sliding Doors is, of course, a 1998 film with Gwyneth Paltrow. It's also a terrible movie, but that's by the by.

  19. Number three where art thou?published at 09:20 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2018

Andy Zaltzman earlier asked you to name all nine players to have batted at three for England since Jonathan Trott had that position at Adelaide in 2013.

Here are the answers - Nick Compton, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Tom Westley, James Anderson, Gary Ballance, James Vince and Ian Bell.

  20. Postpublished at 09:16 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2018

Right then, another finely poised session that.

England were 120-4 at lunch and Jos Buttler carried on his fine counter-attacking innings to bring up a fine 50 off as many balls.

Moeen Ali looked all at sea again, playing across the line to be out lbw on review for 10.

Ben Foakes looked assured but fell in odd circumstances - bottom edging onto his pads then the keeper's pads and then into the hands of first slip. Only replays suggest he didn't actually hit it and would've been not out had he reviewed.

Buttler kept scoring off the reverse sweep but then fell to it - top edging Malinda Pushpakumara to fall for 63.

More wickets than England would've liked but this is a tricky, turning pitch. Sam Curran and Adil Rashid are more than handy with the bat too.
