Adil Rashid has had enough to nurdling singles.

He skips down the pitch and batters Pushpakumara overs his head for six.

Another top catch by one of the groundstaff. It feels like the Sri Lanka groundstaff are better fielders than half the actual team.

Akila Dananjaya is back into the attack and England maintain the same approach, knocking it round for three singles.

Sydney 94: In one universe Hick completes a maiden Ashes Test century, the confidence of which turns him into the top Test batsmen of the nineties. In another Atherton declares with him on 98 and English cricket spends the rest of the decade in the doldrums.

There's another Test match ongoing in Asia, where Zimbabwe are chasing an improbable 443 to beat Bangladesh in Mirpur after Bangladesh declared their second innings on 224-6 - Mahmudullah hitting an unbeaten century. Victory for Bangladesh would level the two-match series. Full scorecard here.

Today's knock was Jos Buttler's sixth score of 50 or more since he was recalled to the Test side and he averages just under 49.

  8. Eng 180-7published at 50 overs

    Curran 4, Rashid 5

Dilruwan Perera has looked very threatening when allowed to bowl continually at the left-handers.

So Sam Curran and Adil Rashid wisely rotate the strike off the off-spinner, picking up five from the over.

I think this England pair have shelved their wristy flays for now. Can they steers the tourists through to tea without further damage?

Surely one of the greatest has to be Lance Klusener running out Allan Donald in the South Africa v Australia World Cup semi-final in 1999. SA needed one run to win off three balls and Klusener hits it to mid-off, sets off on a risky run to run Donald out and send Australia through to the final against Pakistan, which they won.

    Curran 2 off 25 balls

Sam Curran is actually playing very watchfully for now. After a leg bye he defends the next five balls of the over resolutely.

And all of Adil Rashid's innings are pretty much counter-attacking ones. This could be fun. Or over quickly. Or both.

Sam Curran's best innings for England so far have been counter-attacking ones.

You live by the reverse sweep, you die by the reverse sweep.

Jos Buttler has played the shot expertly all day but gets it wrong this time as Malinda Pushpakumara cannily bowls it a bit slower.

Buttler is through the shot early and the ball loops up off the top edge for Dimuth Karunaratne to complete a simple catch at backward point.

Hard to criticise Buttler for that, it's a shot that brought him a lot of runs and put Sri Lanka back under pressure. A fine knock that leaves you wanting more.

I think Buttler has flattened Sri Lanka. Their body language is not of a team where the ball is fizzing and popping off the pitch. He has sucked all the positivity out of them.

If he'd fumbled that, he would have got Sam Curran out.
