  1. Pak 225-2published at 37.2 overs

Well, that's one way to get off the mark. Four!

Shoaib Malik goes with hard hands at Tom Curran, keeping his feet still and flashing the ball over backward point for four.

Tom Curran is coming back on in place of Moeen.

If this was a World Cup semi-final I wonder whether Shoaib Malik would come in with this score or if Asif Ali might have come in.

  4. Pak 220-2published at 37 overs

    Wood 7-0-45-1

Shoaib Malik is the new man at the crease, and he fends a Mark Wood short ball away from his ribs first up.

As an aside, I'm delighted to see Joe Root and Mark Wood have reintroduced their leaping, hip-bumping wicket celebration.

It was a good knock from Hafeez.

It was a quick short ball from Wood, a good option at this stage in the innings.

    Hafeez c sub (Jordan) b Wood 59 (Pak 220-2)

    Gone!

The extra pace of Mark Wood does the trick for England. Mohammad Hafeez is on the back foot, trying to pull the ball over mid-on, but he can't clear Chris Jordan, who has to take a couple of steps back before holding on to an easy catch.

There is no positive intent, especially from Babar. Is he looking for his hundred again? That is the worst thing that can happen. It is a typical sub-continent mindset when you are looking for records and stats.

  8. Pak 217-1published at 36 overs

    Babar 94, Hafeez 58

Good recovery from Moeen, and Pakistan have to settle for a smattering f singles.

    Hello!

Mohammad Hafeez goes for the longest boundary at Trent Bridge, hoicking the ball over the leg side for six. James Vince is briefly interested in going for the catch but he ends up escorting it over the ropes.

Pakistan are behind the eight ball here, you have got to say. They are not batting as fast as they would want to.

The players are taking a quick breather at Trent Bridge.

At times, it feels like we're watching the start of a one-day innings, rather than one that's coming towards the end. Pakistan have slowed after such a bright start. Time to kick on, methinks.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Hafeezpublished at 35 overs

    Pak 206-1

Mohammad Hafeez has absolutely nailed a drive for four to bring up his half-century.

A stunning shot, Mark Wood spearing the ball a little wide, and Hafeez hoicks him through the covers for a welcome boundary. He's reached his 50 from 49 balls, with two fours and two sixes.

  14. Pak 200-1published at 34.1 overs

Mark Wood is back into the attack, and he's whipped off his pads by Babar Azam to bring up Pakistan's 200.

It was beautifully bowled. Moeen cramped Hafeez. Buttler could be a little rusty behind the stumps. Managing the troops and keeping wicket can never be easy.

  17. Missed stumpingpublished at 34 overs

    Pak 199-1

    Oh, Jos Buttler!

Another missed chance for the England keeper in this series. Mohammad Hafeez comes down, the ball sneaks between his bat and pad as he aims a big yahoo down the ground, and Buttler can't collect the ball cleanly. Ouch.

Well, Pakistan were going to have to go for a big shot at some point...

It's Mohammad Hafeez who attempts to break the shackles, pumping Moeen Ali straight back down the ground for six, the ball slamming right into the boundary rope.

What is holding Pakistan back? We haven't seen any ramp shots or imagination. We haven't seen many sixes and it's a 60m hit to the boundary.
