  1. Pak 191-1published at 33 overs

A fine stop from Ben Stokes, diving at point to stop Hafeez cutting a boundary, brings a cheer from the crowd.

This is excellent from Archer. He pings down four dot balls, mixing up his pace, to end the over.

  2. Pak 190-1published at 32.2 overs

Ooft. Mohammad Hafeez tries to unfurl a tennis shot against Jofra Archer but he's completely done over by the pace, and Hafeez takes his bottom hand off the bat as he jabs the ball down at his feet.

That's a shot though, a touch wider and Hafeez frees his arms, beating the sweeper to pick up four.

    Mug

I'm a student of the lengths that people will go to in order to be prepared for their day at the cricket. A chap in the members has brought his own mug. Outstanding.

  4. Pak 186-1published at 32 overs

    Hafeez 33, Babar 88

Pakistan just can't seem to get away against Moeen. They're limited to quick singles, Moeen keeping the ball away from the leg side and following the batsmen as they dance down the pitch.

Terrific stuff from Moeen, and Pakistan can only hustle five runs from the over.

Archer is a great bowler to watch. That was a scrambled seam and went to the wicketkeeper at a good height. The change of pace is remarkable with hardly any shift in the bowling action.

He breaks the rhythm of the batsman because you are looking to get on with it and then there is a 90mph thunderbolt and a 70mph slower ball.

Good pitch, this, but Pakistan will need a few more of these...

  7. Pak 181-1published at 31 overs

    Archer 5-0-23-0

Ed Smith and Eoin Morgan are sat together on the England balcony, watching on as Jofra Archer starts his latest over.

It's not full Jofra just yet, a few deliveries hovering around the 87mph mark, but Babar Azam can't resist a swing and a miss at a ball that zips past his off stump. Archer sends down a slower ball to end the over and grins at Babar as he tries to cut it, and misses.

I wonder if Pakistan are going to have a real dart now.

  10. Pak 178-1published at 30 overs

    Babar 85, Hafeez 28

That's a fine over from Moeen, keeping the Pakistan batsmen tied down with some fuller, flatter deliveries.

  11. Pak 175-1published at 29.2 overs

Mohammad Hafeez has a cursory glance at Moeen and then tries to pummel him over mid-off for six.

The ball slices off the bottom of the bat and a back-pedalling Ben Stokes, twisting and turning as he leaps in the field, keeps the ball away from the ropes.

Ben Stokes is off and Moeen Ali is on.

Pakistan are on course for a big score but, against England, a big score doesn't mean a winning score.

Adil Rashid looks a little downcast as he finishes his sixth over.

    Yes. Yes it did.

As you were. England lose their review.

Has this come off the thigh pad, rather than the bat?

  17. England reviewpublished at 28.4 overs

Now then. Adil Rashid likes this caught behind shout off Mohammad Hafeez.

Jos Buttler makes the T sign.

That is magnificent from Roy, really athletic. Roy was frustrated that he couldn't take the wicket by getting the ball to the nearest fielder, Root.

  19. Pak 172-1published at 28.3 overs

    Jason Roy!

What a stunning piece of fielding. Mohammad Hafeez looks to have nailed a six down the ground but Roy, right on the edge of the boundary, jumps, catches the ball and somehow manages to throw it back into play as he travels over the rope. He's furious with himself - he thinks he should have thrown it to a fielder to take one of those relay catches - but there's no way he would have managed to get the ball to Root at long-on. Astonishing.

Looking at the World Cup, England's batting is phenomenal - the best its ever been - but bowling wise, India's is impressive with Jasprit Bumrah etc.
