Sam Quigley‏: Feel for Joe Denly a bit, he's as much of a spinner as Joe Root, more of a batsman that twirls through a few overs in a lull in proceedings. Hope he gets a decent innings under his belt today to properly judge him on.

Joe Denly is blowing on his hands to try and get them warm. It's not easy for a spinner to give it a rip on a cool day.

Denly is keeping the runs down. Pakistan haven't shown any real intent against him yet.

Are these two going quick enough on this batsman's paradise of a ground?

Joe Denly bowling first change, replacing Jofra Archer, in England's penultimate ODI before the World Cup, would have seemed far-fetched a year ago.

As I said earlier, let's hope Imam-ul-Haq has not done serious damage. You want the best players to be playing in a World Cup.

The pace has dropped with Tom Curran in the attack but he doesn't allow Pakistan to get him away. Four singles and a wide are the only damage in his first over.

Mark Wood and Jofra Archer might strike up quite an opening partnership for England.

This is Joe Denly's 149th List A match - it's 41st time he's bowled and just the fourth time he's been in the top four in the bowling order. He's often been the sixth or seventh bowler.

It's good captaincy from Jos Buttler - introducing Denly early into the piece is saying we're giving you some backing. And he's not disappointed at all.

Better from Joe Denly. A good over of leg spin only costs one run.

He's appealing for lbw on the final ball and Babar might have just got himself outside the line as he came down the pitch. He might have hit it too.

England rightly choose not to review.

This guy can play. I've seen Babar disintegrate South Africa's Dale Steyn in a recent Test match - he hit him for 65 runs off around 14, 18 balls. It was a grand spell of batting.

For me this one has been the shot of the day from Babar Azam...

For the second over in a row Mark Wood responds well to an early boundary. He finishes this one with four dots in a row.

Wood has bowled a little better than his 0-35 in five overs.

  15. Pak 61-0published at 9.1 overs

Babar Azam is a fine batsman. Mark Wood starts full again and is driven beautifully through the covers.

We have seen a highlights reel of shots from Babar already.

That was a proper cut shot from Babar Azam - nothing one-day about it.

  17. Pak 57-0published at 9 overs

    Fakhar 30, Babar 24

Joe Denly's first over costs eight runs. For much of the over Pakistan just looked to knock him into the deep for singles but when he dropped too short Babar Azam cut him hard for four.

Denly needs a good performance to hang onto his World Cup place.

England's opening bowlers - Mark Wood and Jofra Archer - were quick but the extra pace cost runs on this pitch...

  19. Pak 49-0published at 8 overs

Excellent response from Wood. Two dots end the over. One was an absolute beauty.

Interestingly, England's first change is to bring Joe Denly on. Denly only bowled one over at Bristol and three deliveries were full tosses.

This is a big ask for him!

It's relentless pressure on the bowler here - a change of pace is needed. Mark Wood is becoming far too predictable with his seam-up deliveries at pace.
