A classic Murtagh dismissal - full length and a bit of movement. A lovely delivery. I'm going to excuse Roy there.

Roy c Stirling b Murtagh 5 (Eng 8-1)
Out!
Tim Murtagh with a red ball is irresistible. It's a decent length delivery, drawing Jason Roy forward, and it just shapes away at the last minute. Roy always goes with hard hands and the ball finds the edge of the bat and flies to Paul Stirling at first slip. Stirling ends up taking the catch by his boots, and Roy's maiden Test innings is over.

GC: I'd have played Sam Hain today personally. Nothing against Denly, I've been a fan for years but he won't be around much longer.
Hersh: Gregory should be playing instead of Stone.
The no ball did save Jason Roy!
Ball tracking reckons that was smacking into the stumps. Roy is a lucky man...

The no ball has saved him there. I think that could well have been lbw.
Roy 5, Burns 1
No ball - oh, and that's probably saved Jason Roy!
He was hit on the back leg, smack in front of middle and leg stump, and I fancy that would have been hitting the stumps.
I'm still in one-day mode. Adair bowls a delivery that would be called wide in a 50 over match but, er, this is a Test match, and it is perfectly fine.
Ooft! Jason Roy gets into a tangle trying to leave teh ball and under-edges it just past his stumps. My word...
And from the Pavilion End, it'll be Mark Adair.

If you're wondering where the names and numbers on the backs of shirts are, they won't be introduced until the Ashes, which is the first series in the ICC Test Championship.
Jason Roy strides forward to his first ball and pushes down the ground, but it's fielded by the man at mid-off.
He's off the mark to the next ball, though, pressing forward and driving a couple of runs through cover.
This is the first time I've had a good look at the pitch - it's green! Way greener than I was expecting, actually.
This is classic Tim Murtagh, probing on off stump, and Rory Burns clips him to cover to get England's innings under way. That brings Jason Roy on strike...

A lot of players in this England XI have got a lot to play for.
On a length from Tim Murtagh, and Rory Burns plonks it away.
The first ball of the Test summer - in the middle of July! - is about to be bowled...
Right then, shall we have some Test cricket?
Jason Roy and Rory Burns are on their way out to the middle and by the looks of things, it's Tim Murtagh with the ball in hand.
Alastair Cook
Former England captain on TMS
Jason Roy won't be on the attack straight away. He did adjust his game in the World Cup. He will take his time but then score at a pace faster than most others.
Don't be surprised if he's five off 20 balls, but once he gets going he has the ability, which not many people have, to change a match in one session by scoring so quickly.
Vic Marks
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Will Jason Roy be walking down the pitch to Tim Murtagh from the off?

Alex Hubbard: Tim Murtagh FULLY deserves to be bowling in Test cricket and it’s brilliant to see.

I would have loved to have seen Ben Foakes in this England team, or even in the squad. He looked *so* good in Sri Lanka. He's not scored overly heavily for Surrey so far this season but he looked the part.
