Nathan Lyon to bowl the first over after tea...and Rory Burns firmly defends the first ball.
Right, here come Rory Burns and Joe Denly.
Burns resumes on 82, Denly on nine. England are 170-2, trailing Australia by 114 runs.
Here we go.
Joe Denly has plenty to prove at this level and batting at four on Ashes debut is no easy task...but he offered a glimpse of his best shortly before the break...
Rory Burns has batted through two sessions today, showing a much tighter technique, if still occasionally vulnerable outside off-stump.
The England opener will resume on 82 after the interval...

Yeah, conversion rate and all, but this was a gritty knock from Joe Root, seeing off the still new ball following the early loss of Jason Roy before finding some fluency.
Cheers Matt.
Did it just take Australia to be the opponent for England to bat sensibly?
Can the hosts continue after tea? Can Australia find any way to strike with a soft, old ball?
Anyway, I'm off.
Jack Skelton is here to take over from me.

Martin: Boycott’s revenge!!
Scenes on TMS.
Geoffrey has just made them play back the commentary from the World Cup when Aggers said "if that isn't out then I'll eat Geoffrey's hat".
It wasn't out and now Geoffrey has handed his hat over...

Rory Burns has done a good job. You ride your luck here and there. He has done well and cemented the innings.
It is a good pitch that is doing nothing for the seamers.
Burns has kept the off-spinner out. Splendid job.
Burns 82, Denly 9
Australia appeal for lbw on the final ball but that looks too high and Aleem Dar agrees.
That'll be tea.
England's session again.
This might be the last over before tea. Just a couple of balls to go.

That was gorgeous. Aesthetically, technically, probably the best shot of the day. Beautifully played.

That's a fine stroke! He waited on that and then the ball came to him, under his nose.

Delightful from Joe Denly. A cover drive as good as anything you'll see. Denly is very pleasing on the eye when he bats like that.

This is chastening for Australia. One of their major factors against left-handers in Lyon is having to bowl a lot of overs, on a turning pitch, and he's not getting them out.
Burns 82, Denly 3
Australia have a fielder in the deep now to Nathan Lyon. That tells you he hasn't been as effective as they'd hope. He bowls short again and Burns chops it away for one.
The fielders swoop in for Denly and there are cries of "catch" as the ball goes towards silly point. It landed safely and I'm not sure there was an edge anyway
