If it's hit the wrist band, he's out.

Oooo this might have hit the band around the bottom of Bairstow's glove on his wrist, as well as a bit of arm.

    It will be out.

Bairstow thinks it's come off his arm, not his glove.

  5. England reviewpublished at 37 overs

    Another Joel Wilson review.

Jonny Bairstow is given out caught at slip. The umpire thinks it has looped off the glove.

Bairstow holds out his forearm to suggest he doesn't think it is out.

You'd think this game will be over some time in the next couple of hours. England have to show some stickability to keep Australia in the field.

    Good luck to the team!

Someone has just asked what the chances of rain are here at Edgbaston. The BBC Weather forecast currently has the possibility at 0%.

Joe Root's team aren't the only England side in action today.

The Physical Disability Cricket World Series begins with England competing in a five-team T20 tournament against India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

England's 15-man squad, the elite of around 60,000 who play across the country, range from 16-year-old Ali Layard to 39-year-old captain Iain Nairn with the players taking breaks from their full-time jobs as teachers, tilers, students, water-workers and biscuit exporters.

“At 39, I will never play in an international tournament in England again,” says captain Nairn, who lost his right leg aged 16 months.

The team are amateurs but most play for their first-team at their local clubs.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show the world what we can do. And there’s a little bit of selfishness about it as well – I want to show the world what I can do," Nairn says.

“People at my cricket club will laugh at me, because I wear my England training kit wherever I’m training, but that’s my reminder, those three Lions – this is what I’m doing it for.

"At the moment, there’s me, Eoin Morgan, Paul Collingwood and Heather Knight that have lifted World Cups for England. I want to be the first person to do that twice.”

Jonny Bairstow can at least look at this as a chance to play himself into a bit of form. A gritty fifty here would give him some confidence going into the second Test, even if it ends up being in vain.

If that Lord's pitch is anything like it was against Ireland, that could be a really short Test...

England don't have Monty though. And Jimmy only has one fully functioning leg. And there's no Paul Collingwood.

We lost our fifth wicket in the 27th over in Cardiff 2009 and ended up batting 105 overs! Believe people, we can still do this.

Is Pat Cummins the best fast bowler in the world? Quite possibly.

He completely squares Ben Stokes up, finds the edge, but the ball goes down to third man for four.

Australia need five wickets to win

There are singles on offer with Aussie fielders huddled around the bat, waiting for a catch. Jonny Bairstow gets his first run.

Is this a good time for me to point out England lost the first Test of the 2005 Ashes?
