There was nothing wrong that. It was a good ball. Burns played really well. He fought it out. He had looked fine.

Jason Roy is coming out at four.

This... will go one of two ways.

That was a very gutsy innings from Burns. It bounced a bit looking at the replay.

    Burns c Smith b Hazlewood 81 (Eng 166-3)

    Gone!

Well, it did feel like that was about to happen. Rory Burns plays away from his body and Josh Hazlewood finds the edge of the bat. The ball flies to Steve Smith, who takes a good catch at midriff height. A fine innings comes to an end. Good ball, good catch, good knock.

Nathan Lyon took nine wickets in the first Test and basically won it for Australia with the ball with 6-49.

He's taken five wickets in the four innings since and messed up that run out.

    Root 69, Burns 81

Joe Root watches the rest of the over fizzle past his off stump.

Burns hits that shot in the air a lot. He was just a couple of inches away from being caught.

    Eng 166-2

    Oh!

You know the saying, filth takes wickets? Nathan Lyon has almost got Rory Burns with a long hop. It's a rank delivery and Burns cracks within a centimeter of Matthew Wade at extra cover. Ooft.

That was a terrific spell from Cummins. The figures don't tell the story.

Pat Cummins, figures of 17-4-37-1, is taking a well-deserved break.

    Here's Josh Hazlewood.

A smattering of singles end the over.

    That could have gone anywhere.

  15. Eng 162-2published at 61.2 overs

Close! Rory Burns gets down low to sweep Nathan Lyon and he gets a horrible top edge, but it somehow manages to drop short of the lurking fielder at backward square. Burns didn't have a clue where that had gone.

This has been some spell from Pat Cummins, and he's been unlucky not to take a wicket, but this is his 10th over in a row either side of tea and there's only a three day gap between the final two Tests.

Tim Paine needs to be careful how he handles such an important part of his attack.

This is compelling viewing - Pat Cummins has bowled absolutely beautifully but got nothing to show for it.
