Ouch. Buttler has absolutely creamed one back at Labuschagne. That must have hurt. I'm not calling it a drop.

    He has absolutely crunched that.

Whatever you think of England, it's never dull. A reverse sweep from Jos Buttler. Four more.

Australia have a slip, a backward point and an extra cover. Everyone else is on the boundary to Buttler.

That is Jos Buttler's first Test 50 against Australia. He was averaging just 15 against them before this knock.

  9. Eng 260-8published at 76.5 overs

Smarter cricket from England. Buttler gets his single and Leach now only has one ball to survive in the over.

Two balls to go in the over. Does Buttler take the single now?

A standing ovation for Jos Buttler as he reaches his half-century. This has been a brutal counter-attack - and yet, it's a counter-attack that wouldn't have been needed had England, you know, batted properly.

Well played, Jos Buttler. He's played some fine innings for England in adverse circumstances. He could really hurt Australia if he keeps going here.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Buttlerpublished at 76.2 overs

Jos Buttler moves to 52 with a six! Hazlewood goes short and the England batsman clobbers him over the leg side.

It's his first fifty of the series.

Angus Robb: Jos needs to calm down here. Jack'll hang about and just play sensibly and get quick but safe runs. Don't just get out. Eight down isn't all out.

    Buttler on strike.

    This could be fun

Jos Buttler doesn't have to thrash at every ball because Jack Leach has a technique that means he can hang around for a long time. Jack looks a million dollars with the bat right now!

  18. Eng 251-8published at 76 overs

I think when the novelty wears off teams are going to get annoyed by Jack Leach's spectacle-cleaning antics. It does slow the play down.

This will frustrate bowlers too! Leach edges the final ball through a gap for four. England pass 250.

  19. Eng 247-8published at 75.4 overs

    Buttler 44, Leach 6

This is proper T20 cricket in white clothing now. Buttler gives himself a lot of room by stepping to the leg side and Cummins follows him with a yorker. Buttler misses and the ball goes between bat and leg stump.
